ITP BRINGS OUT THE MEGA MAYHEM

0

ITP is set to make even more mischief in the ATV/UTV aftermarket with the introduction of the all-new Mega Mayhem. This younger brother of the original ITP Mayhem uses all the tricks of its sibling, but has added some wicked moves of its own.

Most notably, the taller, brawnier Mega Mayhem features an even more aggressive 1.5-inch-deep lug for ferocious bite, making it the baddest boy on ITP’s block. The Mega Mayhem can throw a punch!

Despite the attitude, the Mega Mayhem maintains its family values. The unique tread pattern behaves well on harder surfaces, while its lightweight 6-ply carcass charms with exceptional acceleration and braking characteristics as well as balanced cornering traits.

The original Mayhem has proven to be a real tough guy with its unquestioned durability, and the Mega Mayhem follows closely in those foot tracks. Both tires mark their territory with distinctive, tribal-inspired, embossed artwork.

Born and raised in the U.S.A., the new Mega Mayhem swaggers out in eight sizes ready to be slapped on most popular 4×4/utility ATVs and side-by-side UTVs: 27×9-12, 27×11-12, 27×9-14, 27×11-14, 28×9-12, 28×11-12, 28×9-14 and 28×11-14.

GBC Motorsports Report at WORCS ATV Series

0

GBC Motorsports’ Pro-Am rider Dylan Dixon finished 7th in Round 2 of the WORCS ATV series at Buffalo Bills in Primm, Nevada yesterday.

Coming off of a 5th place showing in the opening round at a soggy Glen Helen, GBC Pro-Am racer Dylan Dixon took his GBC Race Rex tires to the deserts of Nevada for Round 2 of the WORCS ATV action.

Despite some brutally tough track conditions and some high winds kicking up some dust, Dixon managed to finish in 7th place after a tough day of racing.

The race began with a dead-engine start which proved challenging for Dixon, who got off to a slow start. Nevertheless he managed to improve his early 12th place position up to 8th by the end of the first lap. By the end of Lap 2, Dixon had worked his way into 6th and was charging on the 5th place rider as things took a turn for the worse.

As Dylan exited the pit section of the track he high-sided and went down. By the time he got back on his quad and going again he had dropped back to 18th.

Throughout the remaining laps, however, Dixon continued to fight his way towards the front and never gave up on the race, making a last-second move into 7th just before the checkered flag.

GBC’s Dylan Dixon sits in 3rd place in the points standings after two rounds of racing, with Round 3 slated for March 16-18 at Crazy Horse in Lake Havasu City, Arizona.

The Primm round of WORCS ATV racing was also a special occasion, as the Eichner Family Fundraiser was onsite to help raise money for ATV legend Doug EichnerÂ’s family, whose wife Joan is battling cancer.

In addition to selling special t-shirts and accepting donations, the group auctioned off some donated equipment including autographed jerseys from various racers, a set of X-Rex tires from GBC, and a Polaris ATV.

GBC Donating Tires for Eichner Fundraiser

0

GBC Motorsports is proud to announce that they will be donating a set of their X-Rex tires for the Eichner Family Fundraiser, taking place at Round 2 of the WORCS ATV series in Primm, Nevada this weekend.

The Eichner family is working with WORCS to help raise money for Joan Eichner, wife of ATV racing legend Doug Eichner.

Joan has been battling cancer over the past few years and the family is looking to the WORCS community and the ATV racing community as a whole for support.

There will be a booth set up with special t-shirts for sale and they will also be accepting donations. Additionally, the fundraiser will be auctioning off donated items, including GBC’s X-Rex tires and autographed jerseys from WORCS pros.

“Doug was one of my ATV heroes when I started racing and still is today,” said GBC representative Kory Ellis. “He has always been a great role model for ATV racers and the average Joe on and off the track with his never-give-up attitude. I wish the best to him and his family.”

GBC Motorsports’ Dylan Dixon will also be battling once again in the Pro-Am Production class. Coming off of a 5th place finish in a muddy opening round at Glen Helen, Dixon will take on the Nevada desert in more favorable conditions – highs in the low 60’s with clear skies.

Polaris Introduces New leadership for PG&A

0

Polaris Industries Inc. (NYSE: PII) today announced the hiring of Steve Eastman, former president of Target.com, to lead its Parts, Garments, and Accessories (PG&A) business.

This appointment allows Scott Swenson, who previously ran both PG&A and the Company’s Small Vehicles business, to focus his attention on establishing a strong Polaris presence in the $4 billion small electric vehicle market. After a record year in 2011, Polaris expects these businesses to strongly contribute to its future success.

“Our Small Vehicles and Parts, Garments and Accessories businesses are vital to the company’s success and we are committed to pursuing growth in these markets,” said Scott Wine, Polaris CEO. “In order to achieve these aggressive goals, we need talented leaders dedicated to each business. Hiring Steve to lead PG&A, thereby allowing Scott to devote his efforts to Small Vehicles, puts two strong executives in position to drive outstanding results.”

Polaris anticipates rapid growth in its PG&A business during 2012. Eastman will lead this work as vice president of Parts, Garments and Accessories.

Eastman is an innovative leader with more than 30 years of business experience. In his most recent position, as president of Target.com, he was responsible for growing and managing a $1.3 billion business and leading a team of more than 1,000 global employees.

Scott Swenson was promoted to vice president of Small Vehicles in 2011, while retaining his existing role as vice president of Parts, Garments & Accessories.

Eastman’s hiring transitions Swenson out of PG&A, allowing him to focus on building the Small Vehicles business, a critical component of PolarisÂ’ long-term strategy.

Swenson began his Polaris career as Assistant Treasurer in 1998 and his leadership has been instrumental in the success of the CompanyÂ’s snowmobile and PG&A businesses. He will continue to lead PolarisÂ’ retail financial services group.

Polaris is a recognized leader in the powersports industry with annual 2011 sales of $2.7 billion. Polaris designs, engineers, manufactures and markets innovative, high quality off-road vehicles (ORVs), including all-terrain vehicles (ATVs) and the Polaris RANGER side-by-side vehicles, snowmobiles, motorcycles and on-road electric/hybrid powered vehicles.

Dirt Trax Mag Names Five Can-Ams As Best In Class

0

Dirt Trax Magazine, a North American ATV and off-road publication, has named three Can-Am off-road vehicles as 2012 Best In Class winners.

The models, named in its latest issue currently on newsstands, are: 2012 Can-Am Outlander 1000 XT, Can-Am Renegade 1000 and the Can-Am Commander 800R.

“The BIC Awards were developed in response to what we perceived as a need for better industry awards,” explained Mark Lester, Dirt Trax Magazine publisher. “As a result we have developed the categories you see in the current BIC award protocol for Best In Class honours each year. The emergence of BIC awards for two categories of SxS vehicles is an indication of how we’ve attempted to ensure we’re paying attention to emerging and significant categories in the ATV / SXS business.”

Dirt Trax Magazine editors determine best-in-class machines by comparing them to competitive models within their class during testing. Vehicles are compared in areas such as power, handling, suspension, ergonomics and build quality, among other determining factors.

“Having three Can-Am vehicles receive best-in-class honours is a tremendous accomplishment for everyone at BRP,” stated Yves Leduc, Vice-President and General Manager, North America. “Industry recognition and the Best In Class awards are always something to strive for and prove to off-road enthusiasts and it is positive reinforcement for all the dedicated work put in by our design, engineering and marketing teams.”

Redesigned for 2012, the Can-Am Outlander 1000 was a unanimous choice as the Best Big Bore Sport Utility ATV. Editors raved about its second-generation chassis and new 976cc Rotax engine, calling it “the most outrageously fast and powerful ATV ever built and the best handling and best riding ATV BRP has ever produced.”

Editors named the 2012 Can-Am Renegade 1000 the Best Trail Sport ATV, saying “the new chassis takes what was a stand out Trail Sport 4X4 and makes it literally incomparable in the segment.” The Can-Am Commander 800R was selected as the Best In Class Dual Purpose UTV for its unequalled handling and ride and smooth power delivery for both work and play.

The all-new Outlander 800R (Best Big Bore Sport Utility ATV), the DS 450 (Best Hardcore Sport ATV) and the Can-Am Outlander Max 650 (Best 2-Up ATV) were named runner-up vehicles.

Bombardier Recreational Products Inc. (BRP), a privately held company, is a world leader in the design, development, manufacturing, distribution and marketing of motorised recreational vehicles. Its portfolio of brands and products includes: Ski-Doo and Lynx snowmobiles, Sea-Doo watercraft and sport boats, Evinrude and Johnson outboard engines, Can-Am all-terrain and side-by-side vehicles and roadsters, as well as Rotax engines. BRP products are distributed in more than 100 countries.

Josh Frederick Earns Second at 2012 WORCS Opener

0

Motoworks / Can-Am DS 450 Pro racer Josh Frederick finished second in the Pro class at the World Off-Road Championship Series (WORCS) opener in Devore, Calif.

Can-Am X-Team support racers also scored two Pro-Am class podiums and a victory in the Production A division at Glen Helen Raceway.

“Our racers had a good weekend, earning several podiums, despite the wet, challenging conditions and one-line track at the opening round at Glen Helen,” said Jimmie OÂ’Dell, Race Manager, Can-Am. “Pro racer Josh Frederick led at one point and battled until the very end before netting a hard-fought second place finish. Fellow DS 450 Pro racer Dillon Zimmerman tied a career-best, finishing fourth-place overall in the Pro class.”

Frederick, who finished second overall in the Pro class in 2011 and is a former WORCS ATV Champion, started the race in the top five and quickly moved up into second place by the end of lap two.

Later in the race, Frederick took over as the race leader. After leading for two laps, Frederick dropped back to second and continued battling, bumper-to-bumper, with the leader. The two racers did this all the way to the finish line, but Frederick could not find a way around and had to settle for second overall.

“I went out there and just tried to ride my own race and do my best,” said Frederick. “Early on, I got hung up in the WORCS enduro-cross section, but I just put my head down and tried to make up time and I did. My DS 450 was running awesome and it felt good to start the season on the podium.”

Motoworks / Can-Am DS 450 Pro Dillon Zimmerman started the day in fourth place ahead of Frederick. He later climbed into the third-place position behind Frederick and the race leader.

From there, Zimmerman had his hands full with three other racers challenging him for the podium. While he missed the final podium spot, he was able to earn fourth and match a career-best finish in the WORCS Pro class.

In Pro-Am class action, Can-Am X-Team DS 450 racers Collins Webster, the reigning WORCS Pro-Am Champion, and Canadian David Larochelle each finished on the podium earning second and third, respectively. Larochelle also won the Production A class aboard his Can-Am ATV.

The next WORCS race is scheduled for February 11-12, at Buffalo Bills in Primm, Nev.
