Can-Am / Motoworks DS 450 racer John Natalie took the Pro-class holeshot of moto one at this weekend’s AMA ATV Motocross National near Bowling Green, KY and led the entire race from start to finish.
This combined with being the fastest qualifier for the weekend proved Natalie was ready for an overall win.
In moto two, Natalie started right where he left off jumping to third early in the moto and looking to move up. However, a mechanical issue early in the race ended his chances at the overall, forcing him to settle for eight overall for the weekend.
Teammate, Chad Wienen had an impressive ride in the second moto, chasing down the current national champion and passing him on the closing stages of the moto. That impressive pass put Wienen in third, which was good enough for fourth overall on the day.
“This past weekend, the team proved that it has the speed to contend for the championship; we are very confident that we will be ready for the next round in Danville,” says Jimmie O’Dell, Racing Manager for Can-Am ATVs at BRP. “Our team and riders have been working hard and I’m very impressed with their determination and desire to win.”
Four-Stroke B class amateur, Chase Henry, took the weekend overall winning the class on his DS 450.
Cole Henry, who is the older brother of Chase, took second overall in Production A on his DS 450, and finished in the top five of the Pro-Am Unlimited class.
Mark Gehring rode his DS 450 to the Open B class overall winning both his heat race and the main. Merrill Crose finished second in the Vet A 30+ class and Nicole Gates was second in the Women’s C class.

Tarter Gate has combined the deep cutting ability of the 8-Blade Tillage Disc with the soil preparation and compaction action of the culti-packer in this all-in-one implement.
The Disc/Culti-Packer Combo makes easy work with a single pass. The 16″ tillage discs can be adjusted from 0° through 20° and provide a 48″ cutting width.
The ratchet action handle makes disc adjustment a snap and the heavy-duty, front-mounted winch makes culti-packer adjustment both easy and independent of the disc blades.
The super heavy-duty steel frame and heavy-duty construction make this an even heavier tool (711 lbs.).
The adjustable 13″ 4-ply tubeless tires can be lowered for complete ground clearance (when towing or moving) or can be used to reduce drag depending on surface characteristics and ATV capabilities.
This product features heavy-duty sealed bearings and a durable, corrosion-resistant powder coat finish.

Daryl Rath and his Sportsman 850 XP EPS have been lurking right off the lead since the beginning of the 2010 GNCC Racing Season and this past weekend, at Big Buck they pounced on the 4×4 Open points lead.
Rath, who finished second at Big Buck, has been relentless racing the Sportsman 850 XP EPS. His first race of the season was the only race where he didnÂ’t place and he currently has one second and a two third place finishes in the series. He holds the lead at 72 points and feels the best is yet to come.
“I was really excited coming into this season, we worked very hard last year to get a solid platform with the Sportsman 850 XP EPS. I was able to take all the information we gained and start making the little changes needed to put this ATV up front,” said Daryl Rath. “We have progressed this program from the learning, development and trial stages to a racing stage, and our results are showing that. The fine tuning changes we are making now just keep enhancing the performance of the Sportsman 850 XP EPS. I think it will continue to improve as the season goes on, we are a contender.”
At Big Buck it seemed as dust was going to be the major obstacle to overcome, and it was.
The riders all had to fight for clear vision as they looked for a safe opportunity to pass and make up some ground. It made it extremely difficult in the high speed field sections where most of the passing opportunities were.
Rath had a strong start heading into the first turn where he caught a rock and broke his goggle lens allowing them to fill with dirt. A quick pit stop to swap them out lost him some valuable time and when he re-entered the track there were additional riders he needed to get through to get back up to the front of his class.
Rath continued to pick up the pace and finished with a second place in the
“4×4 Open” class and 16th overall in the AM session.
“Daryl has put a lot of hard work and time into his race Sportsman XP,” said Donna Beadle, race team manager for Polaris Racing. “It’s nice to see his work paying off and we look forward to an exciting race season.”
