2016 POLARIS OVERVIEW

Polaris, the worldwide leader in off-road innovation, expands its lineup for Model Year 2016.

Polaris RZR brings more performance with the addition of another new vehicle; RANGER introduces four new vehicles and more power to several existing models; Sportsman delivers three new vehicles and improvements across the line; and the revolutionary Polaris ACE™ expands its lineup with more power and performance.

“Polaris has become the industry leader by aggressively introducing innovative, new product solutions for every segment of off-road riding,” said David Longren, Polaris Off-Road Division’s Vice President. “Model Year 2016 brings several new products and more enhancements to the most-complete, off-road vehicle offering on the market.”

Polaris RZR has defined recreational side-by-sides by offering the broadest line of vehicles including trail, high performance and four seat offerings for the ultimate combination of power, suspension, agility, comfort and customization.

Owning a RZR has become more than enjoying the dunes, desert or trail, it is a community of owners who share the RZR lifestyle due to their passion for not only off-roading but the ultimate experiences RZR provides.

To continue to enhance those experiences, for model year 2016, Polaris brings more performance with the introduction of two new vehicles and adds comfort enhancements to a majority of the RZR line.

Razor sharp performance has officially been turbocharged with the introduction of the all-new 2016 RZR XP Turbo EPS! Unlike other turbo offerings on the market and true to RZR’s heritage of building complete machines that set the vehicles apart from the competition, the new RZR XP Turbo EPS is completely engineered, front to back, to translate industry-leading power into unmatched performance.

The all-new Polaris ProStar Turbo engine, with turbocharger, provides an industry-leading 144 horsepower making the RZR XP Turbo EPS the most powerful side-by-side engine available from the factory. The precisely-tuned suspension features FOX Podium Internal Bypass Shocks complemented with a lighter-weight progressive rate upper spring and a stiffer main spring for a plush ride.

For unmatched agility, the vehicle has a new front swaybar and re-tuned rear swaybar for less body roll and a more confidence-inspiring ride, while the vehicle’s durable High Performance, True On-Demand All-Wheel Drive system provides the ultimate in responsiveness to the terrain.

Inside the cab, comfort features such as bolstered seats, tilt steering, space-optimized foot rests and factory-installed quarter doors keep the occupants planted and secure; while the vehicle’s integrated accessory mounting locations, hidden wire routing areas within the cab frame and more than 145 exclusive accessories provides owners with endless opportunities to customize their riding experience.

Along with the all-new RZR XP Turbo EPS, Polaris also is introducing the RZR S 1000 EPS which brings premium power to the trail and a value option for wide open spaces. The 60 in/152.4 cm RZR S 1000 EPS features a 100 horsepower ProStar 1000 engine offering an impressive power-to-weight ratio and extremely-fast acceleration; a highly-capable Dual A-Arm Rear suspension with FOX 2.0 Podium X Shocks; unmatched agility due to the High-Performance, True All-Wheel Drive System, optimized track width and standard Electronic Power Steering (EPS); revolutionary ergonomics including bolstered seats, space optimized foot rests and factory-installed quarter doors; and unmatched accessory integration with more than 90 Polaris Engineered Accessories available.

Other enhancements to the 2016 RZR line include an optimized driver position on the RZR 1000 EPS, RZR 900 EPS, RZR S 900 EPS, RZR XC 900 EPS, RZR 4 900 EPS, RZR XP 1000 EPS, RZR XP Turbo EPS, RZR XP 4 1000 EPS and non-EPS vehicles featuring a new seat angle that brings the driver’s elbows closer to the body providing less arm fatigue and a more natural driving position. The RZR XP 1000 also will have adjustable seatbelt sliders providing the occupants with the ability to change the position based on their height or comfort level.

The 2016 comfort changes, paired with RZR’s patented design that places the engine behind the seat for a low center of gravity, placement of occupants towards the middle of the vehicle, and cab features such as bolstered seats and space-optimized foot rests that keep the occupants planted and secure, ensures RZR owners can experience the most enjoyable, adrenaline-pumping riding experience yet.

Polaris RANGER, the industry’s No.1 selling utility vehicles (UTV), continues to add to its industry-leading, broadest lineup for model year 2016. To get more done from sun up to sun down, the versatile lineup consists of two-seat, full size and CREW vehicles for hunt, farm trail and mud. For 2016, the line sees two new full-size and two new two-seat vehicles added to the line along with power upgrades and enhancements on existing models.

For the customer looking for the ultimate combination of quality, performance and value, Polaris is introducing an all-new standard in full-size value, the RANGER 570 Full-Size, retailing at $9,999. With its 60 in/152.4 cm wide three-seat chassis, tubular ROPS, proven 44 horsepower ProStar 570 engine that is rear-mounted for easier access, 1,500 lbs/680 kg of towing capacity and payload, 800 lbs/362 kg bed capacity, and premium comfort features, the RANGER 570 Full-Size is a hard-working, reliable partner.

To keep the ride smooth from the barn to the fields and everywhere in between, the RANGER 570 Full-Size features the legendary adjustable Independent Rear Suspension (IRS) found on all RANGER vehicles. Whether carrying heavier loads or unwinding with family and friends when the job is done, the versatility of the adjustable rear suspension and shock positions deliver.

The RANGER 570 Full-Size, even at a value price, doesn’t compromise on comfort. Tilt steering, a roomy bench seat for three occupants and industry-leading storage solutions are standard premium comfort features available on the vehicle. Like all gas-powered RANGERs, the optional Speed Key allows the operator to limit the vehicle’s speed to 25 mph/40 kph when desired.

To master the mud, the new RANGER XP 900 EPS High Lifter Edition Stealth Black is the industry’s first three-seat mud riding machine. In order to conquer muddy trails, fields or worksites, Polaris took cues from the ultra-popular RZR XP 1000 High Lifter Edition to take mud and utility to the next level. Similar to its RZR cousin, the RANGER High Lifter Edition features reduced gearing for more mud-specific torque with an added a heavy-duty reverse chain, high engine air and clutch intakes and outlet, arched lower A-Arms, 28 in/71.12 cm High Lifter Outlaw II tires and an improved drainage skid plate. Specific to RANGER, the vehicle features a Pro-Lock On-Demand All-Wheel Drive for quicker four-wheel drive engagement to muscle through the mud. Standard Electronic Power Steering (EPS) means the machine handles the tough stuff while reducing driver fatigue.

The RANGER XP 900 EPS High Lifter Edition Stealth Black is equipped with a 4,500 lbs/2041 kg winch with integrated in-dash switches, specially-designed front bumper that provides higher winch access and rear bumper. Standard half doors provide protection from branches and brush when traveling muddy trails and the High Lifter graphics kit is an endorsement from one of the leaders in mud riding.

One of the first vehicles resulting from Polaris’ partnership with Brammo Inc., the two-seat RANGER EV Li-Ion Polaris Pursuit Camo offers more than three times the total battery lifespan of traditional acid batteries, more than twice the range (50+ miles*) on one charge to ensure the vehicle spends more time in use.

To complement the Lithium-Ion battery technology, the pure electric RANGER EV Li-Ion Polaris Pursuit Camo features a refined electrical architecture and a single 48-volt, high-efficiency, AC-induction motor. The new system also features a Battery Management Controller which continuously monitors battery usage for a more accurate representation of battery life.

A Vehicle Control Module (VCM) allows for a new digital gauge with speedometer and improved accessory integration. The vehicle also is equipped with on-vehicle diagnostics for easier servicing, and offers many of the hardest working, smoothest riding features found on the RANGER EV such as Pro-Lock On-Demand, True All-Wheel Drive, VersaTrac Turf Mode, class-leading towing and exclusive Pro-Fit™ and Lock & Ride accessory integration.

Also new to the two-seat line is the addition of the hunt-ready RANGER 570 EPS. Built specifically for the demands of hunting, the RANGER 570 EPS Hunter Edition Polaris Pursuit Camo features the revolutionary Active Descent Control (ADC) system for more controlled descents, even under load, making it perfect for hunts in mountainous terrain. Along with ADC, this vehicle features the Pro-Lock On-Demand All-Wheel Drive system for quicker engagement and optimal traction, a 3,500 lbs /1587kg winch, and dual Lock & Ride Gun Scabbards.

More power also comes to the RANGER line with the addition of high output ProStar engines to the RANGER CREW 900-5, RANGER CREW 900-6 models, RANGER XP 570 and RANGER CREW 570-6. The RANGER CREW 900 models will now boast 68 horsepower, similar to the RANGER XP 900 models, and the RANGER XP 570 and RANGER CREW 570-6 will now feature 46 horsepower.

Enhancements to the RANGER line include an updated hood design with an aggressive new look for the RANGER XP 900 and RANGER XP 570 and CREW vehicles. For maximum power delivery to the ground, the RANGER XP 900 EPS and CREW 900 painted models are now equipped with Pro-Lock On-Demand All-Wheel Drive.

Polaris Sportsman All-Terrain Vehicles (ATV) are known as the hardest working, smoothest riding ATVs on the market. For Model Year 2016, the Sportsman line adds three new models, including two for the mud lifestyle, in addition to several improvements and new color choices driven from customer input.

New to the Big Bore line for 2016, Polaris has partnered with High Lifter to offer two ATVs made for the mud, the Sportsman XP 1000 Stealth Black High Lifter Edition and Sportsman 850 Orange High Lifter Edition. With 85 horsepower and 78 horsepower respectively, the vehicles are not only powerful but the most-affordable mud units in their classes.

Both units have been designed from the ground up to tackle the mud. To ensure the power plants breathe, the units feature shielded high engine air and clutch intake/outlets as well as high mounted vent lines, which are essential for reliable performance. For cooling, both vehicles have been equipped with a relocated, rack-mounted radiator with inverted dual fans, an industry-exclusive design that pulls clean air through the bottom of the radiator for improved cooling and reduced clogging.

For more mud-specific torque, both units are equipped with a High and Low transmission with lower gearing. To put all the power and torque to the ground, the XP 1000 has the Polaris High Performance, Close Ratio Front Drive which provides quicker On-Demand four-wheel drive engagement to handle the toughest mud holes.

Riders also will find that both units are designed to tackle the mud with the standard 29.5 in/74.9 cm High Lifter Outlaw II tires and a redesigned suspension featuring stiffer springs for higher ground clearance, exclusive front and rear high-arched, constant radius dual A-arms, and new articulating rear suspension designed to maximize traction in the deepest mud pit.

Additions found specifically on the Sportsman XP 1000 High Lifter Edition include custom paint and graphics, aluminum wheels, Electronic Power Steering (EPS) and an industry first handlebar-mounted mud bar to maximize control in the mud. The vehicle also features custom color matched, high-mounted front and rear bumpers, factory-installed Polaris 3,500 lb./1587 kg winch with sealed handlebar switch and front tow hooks.

For the entry-level consumer, Polaris also is introducing the new Sportsman 450 H.O., which delivers more power and performance for just $5,999 U.S. The Sportsman 450 H.O. features the smooth, reliable and proven Prostar engine delivering 31 horsepower and full-size capability at a 400cc class price. The vehicle shares many of the same features found on the Sportsman 570 including Polaris’ On-Demand, True AWD, proven MacPherson Strut front suspension, IRS and Lock & Ride accessory integration.

Improvements to the existing models for 2016 include 50 percent stronger front half shafts and improved driveline on all 850cc and 1000cc models. The Sportsman 850s also will have a new CST aggressive trail tire that works as great as it looks. Sportsman 450 H.O. and 570cc models will feature a new seat with more comfortable foam, durable seat base, new, more-powerful 660 watt stator to run more accessories, and added exhaust pipe shielding. The full line of Sportsman and Scrambler vehicles also receive a new, high capacity, high-flow air filter for improved air flow and dust filtration to the engine.

Since January 2014, the Polaris ACE has been redefining the off-road experience with the revolutionary, sit-in chassis that combines the nimble handling of an ATV with the security of a Side-by-Side. The result is a machine that is capable, comfortable and inspires confidence. For model year 2016, Polaris is introducing the next level of capable, confident and comfortable with the Polaris ACE 900 SP.

The ACE 900 SP brings big power to the ACE line-up with a 60 horsepower ProStar 900 engine featuring both Electronic Fuel Injection (EFI) and Electronic Throttle Control (ETC) to bring the ACE experience to performance-minded customers.

Along with more power, more comfort comes to the ACE 900 SP with Polaris’ EPS system, the smoothest, most-responsive Power Steering System available. For optimum control, the front stabilizer bar improves handling and provides a confidence-inspiring ride. To tackle the toughest terrain, the vehicle also features new dual rate rear springs as part of the vehicle’s Independent Rear Suspension (IRS). The new springs provide a predictable and plush ride. Paired with the 25 in/63.5 cm tires and Polaris’ High Performance Close Ratio On-Demand All-Wheel Drive (AWD), the new ACE 900 SP can conquer almost anything that gets in its way.

Polaris’ Youth line up will include four 2016 ATV youth models, the Phoenix 200, Outlaw and Sportsman 110 EFI, and Outlaw 50 based upon the Specialty Vehicle Institute of America’s (SVIA) ATV categories. Polaris also will offer the 2016 RZR 170 EFI as a youth side-by-side model.

2016 POLARIS RZR XP TURBO EPS

Polaris RZR is the gold standard in recreational vehicles due to the family’s ultimate combination of power, suspension, agility, comfort and customization. Owning a RZR is not only about the desert, dunes and trails one can conquer but the lifestyle that goes along with that experience.

Polaris continues to innovate the RZR family to enhance that experience by consistently taking off-roading to a new level. Today, Polaris raises the bar yet again by launching the all-new 2016 RZR XP Turbo EPS! Razor sharp performance has officially been turbocharged!

Unlike other turbo offerings on the market and true to RZR’s heritage of building complete machines that set the vehicles apart from the competition, the new RZR XP Turbo EPS is completely engineered, front to back, to translate industry-leading power into unmatched performance.

To deliver maximum durability and performance, Polaris has performed substantial testing on the engine with enough test miles to travel around the world more than nine times; and paired the engine with an all-new stronger driveline to ensure all the power gets to the ground reliably. The vehicle brings significant innovations to each of the hallmark Power, Suspension, Agility, Comfort and Customization aspects of RZR to provide the ultimate off-road experience.

Specifically built to take extreme performance to a new level, the all-new Polaris ProStar Turbo engine, with turbocharger, provides an industry-leading 144 horsepower, an impressive acceleration of 0-60 mph/96.6 kph in 5.89 seconds and more than 45 percent more torque.

The ProStar Turbo is the most powerful side-by-side engine available from the factory for unequalled power, torque, durability and excitement. The new engine was developed for extreme performance and features an impressive amount of high performance parts including forged pistons, an upgraded 270-degree firing order forged crankshaft, high strength connecting rods, a closed deck cylinder, sodium filled exhaust valves and a new oil lubrication system.

For consistent performance at all temperatures, the vehicle also includes a new liquid charge air cooler with front-mounted radiator and high-flow electric pump. To control the massive power delivered by the ProStar Turbo, the engine management system has also been updated to include knock detection, boost control and a high-flow return style fuel system ensuring that the engine delivers maximum power under all conditions, altitudes and temperatures.

To harness all that power and deliver it to the ground, the RZR XP Turbo EPS features a brand-new, fully-engineered and stronger driveline for maximum durability. The ultra-efficient driveline features an all-new, high performance PVT system with all-new clutches and drive belt; a new, stronger transmission with geared reverse and stronger shafts; and a High-Performance, True On-Demand All-Wheel Drive System to distribute the massive 144 horsepower to the ground. The new, high-flow, targeted clutch air cooling system is designed to reduce clutch and belt temperature to enhance and extend belt life.

The RZR XP Turbo EPS boasts the most precisely-tuned suspension due to the vehicle’s highly-tuned FOX Podium® Internal Bypass Shocks offering the plushest ride and best handling found on a side-by-side.

The shocks generate progressive damping force that gives the vehicle a smooth ride with all the bottom-out resistance expected from an ultra-performance off-road vehicle. Large diameter shock bodies (3 in/7.6 cm rear, 2.5 in/6.4 cm front), adjustable remote reservoirs and increased fluid capacity provide dramatic improvements in heat dissipation, fade resistance and durability.

The internal bypass technology uses five compression zones to provide progressive damping as the shock gently absorbs bumps and stiffens to prevent bottoming. Combine that with three zones of rebound damping to minimize pitching and harsh top out to give you an ultra-plush ride and better handling over a wider range of terrain at any speed.

To complement the shocks, Polaris outfitted the RZR XP Turbo EPS with bigger coil-over springs. The progressive rate upper spring is a lighter-weight spring that absorbs small impacts while the stiffer main spring maintains ground clearance and absorbs bigger impacts in rough terrain. The suspension set up ensures the RZR XP Turbo EPS can tackle the toughest terrain while keeping the ride plush and enjoyable.

To conquer the whoops, the RZR XP Turbo EPS 90 in/228.6 cm wheelbase, paired with its 3-Link trailing arm rear suspension, gives the vehicle 18 in/45.7 cm of rear travel and a whopping 13.5 in/34.3 cm of ground clearance. The 3-link geometry allows surface-hugging grip as the vehicle pulls through corners from the use of optimized camber gain, and the length of the trailing arm provides a better ride.

Up front, the RZR XP Turbo EPS features an exclusive front suspension geometry that results in less steering effort for easy maneuverability. Paired with industry-exclusive 29 in/73.7 cm Maxxis Bighorn tires on 14 in/35.6 cm cast rims for a better ride and higher resistance to pinch flats, there’s nothing that stands in the vehicle’s way.

The RZR XP Turbo EPS is the best handling sport side-by-side because it’s the most responsive to both the driver and terrain, and provides unmatched agility in every condition. The vehicle’s new front swaybar and re-tuned rear swaybar dramatically decrease body roll for a more confidence-inspiring ride while the vehicle’s durable High Performance, True On-Demand All-Wheel-Drive system provides the ultimate in responsiveness to the terrain.

The system features a close ratio final drive to keep the front wheels pulling stronger and longer maximizing power delivery to the ground. The system is paired with standard Electronic Power Steering and an 18 ft/5.5 m turning radius to provide unmatched point-and-shoot handling making the vehicle very responsive to the driver. For even more control, the unit has quick, two-turn, lock-to-lock steering allowing the operator to showcase the point-and-shoot agility the vehicle has in response to all terrains.

The RZR XP Turbo EPS not only has industry-leading power but industry-leading braking performance for precision stopping. The upgraded brakes feature large, new, triple piston front calipers, dual piston rear calipers, new stainless steel rotors and large 248mm ventilated discs on all four corners, for the best stopping power on a side-by-side vehicle.

The driving experience of a RZR is like no other due to the revolutionary comfort aspects that are only found on RZR vehicles, including the new RZR XP Turbo EPS. The vehicles were thoughtfully designed to provide occupants with the most exhilarating, comfortable ride on the market.

From the patented design that places the engine behind the seat to the placement of the occupants comfortably towards the middle of the vehicle, RZR’s design provides a low center of gravity for unparalleled handling and ground-hugging performance. Coupled with cab features such as bolstered seats, tilt steering, space-optimized foot rests and factory-installed quarter doors that keep the occupants planted and secure, the RZR ride experience is like no other.

For an optimized driver positioning, the RZR XP Turbo EPS also features a new seat angle for a more comfortable driving experience. The angle situates the driver closer to the steering wheel bringing the elbows closer to the body for less arm fatigue and a more natural driving position. For increased comfort, adjustable seatbelt sliders provide the occupants with the ability to change the position based on their height or comfort level for the most enjoyable, adrenaline-pumping ride experience yet.

RZR enthusiasts love to accessorize their vehicles and the RZR XP Turbo EPS provides revolutionary customization due to its large 660 watt charging system, unmatched accessory integration and more than 145 exclusive accessories.

The purpose-built vehicle chassis is exclusively engineered for Polaris Engineered Accessories™ which are designed with the vehicle in mind to ensure the highest quality of design, integration and function. With integrated mounting points situated along the vehicle frame and pass-through areas for routing wires, accessories can be attached with minimal installation time. Additions, such as rock sliders and bumpers, easily attach and fit securely to the vehicle’s frame due to Polaris’ innovative Expanding Anchor technology; a revolutionary piece of hardware that expands as it is inserted into a mounting point.

Lock & Ride windshields, rear panels, roofs and doors work seamlessly with each other and install directly onto the vehicle frame’s designated mounting points, making installation simple, and providing superior fit and finish. Polaris Engineered Accessories™ come with a one-year factory warranty and do not jeopardize the vehicle warranty.

To fulfill RZR owners’ desire to customize their vehicles and round out the full line-up of Polaris Engineered Accessories across the entire RZR family, including the new RZR XP 1000 Turbo EPS, Polaris has dramatically expanded their audio, lighting and storage offerings.

To keep the tunes pumping, Polaris Engineered Accessories is now offering two high-performance soundbars in four and eight speaker options, and Extreme Audio Pods for premium sound. New high-output Cannon lights for rally style lighting and a 30 in/76.2 cm LED Light Bar that can be mounted under the visor for more protection and provide even more lighting options.

To run power accessories such as audio and lighting, the RZR XP Turbo EPS’ battery features 575 cold cranking amps and 44 amp-hours of capacity. The 3-post terminal feature allows keyed-only power to prevent draining the battery, as well as quick and easy wiring of powered accessories such as lights or an audio system so RZR owners can spend more time enjoying their accessories than installing them.

For day trips or just buzzing around the dunes, the new Lock & Ride Cargo Bag by OGIO provides 100 liters of storage capacity, enough space to fit two full-size helmets, and is constructed from water-resistant Tarpaline material to keep cargo dry. If a hard-sided option is preferred, the Lock & Ride Cargo Box provides 65 liters of storage with a secure latching lid and taunt, rubber tie downs.

Its lightweight design integrates seamlessly with RZR’s cargo bed and features a flat top for additional top-mounted cargo capacity. To take along food and beverages, Polaris Engineered Accessories also offers 51 qt/48.3 L Lock & Ride Cooler Box that can keep contents cool for 48 hours or longer, depending on conditions.

The RZR XP Turbo EPS will be offered in Graphite Crystal, Spectra Orange and Velocity Blue, and will be available at Polaris dealerships in August. More information about Polaris’ whole line of Off-Road Vehicle offerings and Polaris Engineered Accessories can be found online at Polaris.com.
