Press Release – KYMCO USA, exclusive North American distributor of KYMCO brand scooters and ATVs, has become an official 2005 sponsor of Team Sheriff Racing, a unique community education program developed by deputies from the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Office.

With their NHRA (National Hot Rod Association) police race cars and Formula One CCS (Championship Cup Series) police race motorcycles, Team Sheriff travels up and down the West coast to race tracks and school presentations, as well as making regular appearances at community, industry, and media events.

The goal of Team Sheriff is to reach out to young people to educate them about the dangers of drugs, gangs, impaired driving, and illegal street racing. The cars and bikes are raced by the deputy-drivers and supported by sponsors including KYMCO USA.

KYMCO’s sponsorship includes the donation of Super 9 model scooter for use as a support vehicle at the track. According to Deputy Churney, on busy race days, as many as 15 off-duty deputies staff Team Sheriff Racing, and the Super 9 scooter will facilitate movement.

It will especially help at spread-out venues like Pomona Raceway, one of the 3 major tracks, including Las Vegas and Sonoma, visited by Team Sheriff. Churney said the Super 9 would not only be practical transportation, but also an asset in drawing the attention of young people because “it looks gnarly.”
