Textron Off Road Wildcat XX Delivers Unbeatable Ride Experience

0

AUGUSTA, GA — Textron Specialized Vehicles Inc., a Textron Inc. (NYSE: TXT) company, and its Textron Off Road brand have off-roaders’ hearts racing with the much-anticipated Wildcat XX, a new high-performance side-by-side designed to deliver an unbeatable ride experience.

Designed in collaboration with off-road racing legend Robby Gordon, the Wildcat XX is built for a superior ride in every aspect. The off-road racing-inspired suspension system delivers best-in-class handling with more than 18 inches of travel in the front and rear. The FOX 2.5 PODIUM QS3 Shocks with Bottom-Out Control are precision-tuned at the factory with the flexibility to absorb and smooth out the most challenging rides. An all-new TEAM front gear case and rear transaxle provide 2WD/4WD and 4WD lock functionality for rock-crawling capability and exceptional flexibility in different terrains. Making it all go is a 125HP, 998cc three-cylinder EFI engine—the highest horsepower aspirated engine in its class.

“Wildcat XX was inspired by the most extreme off-road racing vehicles, and is built to outperform the biggest side-by-side names in off-roading,” said John Collins, Vice President, Consumer for Textron Specialized Vehicles. “We like to say that Wildcat XX puts ride over everything. With Wildcat XX, you get an unbeatable ride and ultimately, a side-by-side that will conquer any rock, rut or ravine.”

The Wildcat XX front suspension features unequal-length A-arms that angle the tire into every turn, grabbing more of the ground to better negotiate even the toughest hairpin turns. Backing it up is a rear trailing arm that might look familiar to hardcore truck and class one buggy racers, who provided the inspiration to link the arm to the front, but not the sides. This keeps the wheels moving up and down—not side to side as with competitive vehicles. The side to side motion—called track width change—pushes other machines off course, requiring constant steering corrections and reducing stability. The Wildcat XX trailing arm results in 80 percent less track width change in the rear for a smoother ride.

To further enhance the owner experience, Textron Specialized Vehicles designed the Wildcat XX with durability and serviceability at the forefront. With a race-inspired cage and tough components like double-shear joints, a forged aluminum front knuckle and HSLA tubing throughout, Wildcat XX is built to take the most extreme punishment. In addition, the engine is top-mounted to avoid taking a beating during bottom outs. When service is required, the Wildcat XX front steel clip and rear bottom skid are easily removable, and the cargo box is removable without any tools required. So, you get easy access to the powertrain, transaxle, engine and front gear case.

Wildcat XX offers a driver-first design for the ultimate in comfort and convenience. Key features include the largest cab in the industry, ergonomic seating and an automotive style interior.

Other key Wildcat XX features:
– Standard 65-amp alternator to power accessories
– Integrated wiring system cuts light bar installation time in half
– Standard Electronic Power Steering (EPS)
– Class-leading 300-lb capacity cargo box that fits up to a 32-inch spare tire
– Class-leading four-gallon glove box to protect gear in the cab
– Two packages and more than 30 purpose-built accessories from Textron Off Road
– 14-inch ground clearance
– 15-inch custom KMC wheels and 30-inch CST Behemoth tires

Available in Lime Green, Satin Charcoal Metallic or a limited edition Horizon Blue. Wildcat XX is covered by a six-month warranty. For more information, visit a local Textron Off Road dealer, go to TextronOffRoad.com or join the conversation on Textron Off Road’s Facebook, Twitter, YouTube and Instagram accounts.

Polaris Acquires Historic Glamis Beach Store and Surrounding Property

0

Polaris® Industries Inc. (NYSE: PII), in partnership with the LeBlanc family, is announcing the completed purchase of the 166-acres of land and buildings associated with the historic Glamis Beach Store in Glamis, California.

“When my father first opened the doors of the Glamis Beach Store in 1979 his mission was to provide Glamis visitors a home base stocked with all the amenities they need while enjoying the dunes,” said Jeannie “Mama Jeannie” LeBlanc. “It only makes sense to partner with the leader in the off-road recreational community to carry on the traditions that he created.”

“The LeBlanc family created the iconic establishment within the dunes community and we are honored to carry that legacy forward, helping to preserve and protect all that is great about Glamis,” said Bob Mack, senior vice president of Corporate Development & Strategy, Polaris. “For so many riders, the dunes and the Glamis Beach Store are part of a lifetime of riding memories and we plan to make sure that riders and visitors can continue to experience all the dunes have to offer, including a visit to the Beach Store, as a part of their Glamis adventures for many years to come.”

Polaris has partnered with the LeBlanc’s in the past, utilizing the Glamis property to host Camp RZR for the last six years. This signature event takes place in late October, serving as a kick off to the dunes riding season, and a celebration of the riding culture and comradery that is created among riders. More than 20,000 attended Camp RZR in 2017 and the acquisition of the property will allow Polaris to continue to expand the event.

“For the rider and dunes community, the iconic Glamis Beach Store represents the epicenter of the dunes, so when we were looking for a location to hold our first Camp RZR we only had one place in mind,” said Craig Scanlon, chief retail and marketing officer, Polaris Off-Road Vehicles. “To the riders, community and many at Polaris, Glamis is an extraordinary place and our goal is to continue the unique aspects that make this area special and to help it thrive.”

Polaris acquired the property from the Estate of Beach Store founder Eurgene LeBlanc.

Polaris expects to work with Jeannie LeBlanc, other local business owners, the dunes community and Imperial County officials to improve the services available in the Glamis riding area, while preserving the rich history and character of the property.

Glamis is one of the most popular off-road riding areas in the USA with riders coming from all over the world to experience its massive sand hills. The Glamis Beach Store has been a central part of the Glamis experience since 1979 and will continue in operation.

Yamaha YXZ1000R Claims Three of Top Ten Positions at King of the Hammers

0

Kennesaw, Ga. – February 13, 2018 – Yamaha Motor Corp., USA, announces Yamaha factory-supported and bLU cRU racer CJ Greaves, along with his father, veteran off-road racer Johnny Greaves, and Kyle Anderson were among the few competitors who completed the grueling King of the Hammers (KOH) UTV Race on Wednesday, piloting Yamaha’s pure sport YXZ1000R side-by-side (SxS) before time expired. As the top finishing YXZ1000R driver with a solid 5th overall, CJ Greaves was awarded $5,000 for the Yamaha bLU cRU racing bonus.

The KOH UTV race, held annually in Johnson Valley, California, is known to be among the toughest one-day off- road races in the world, this year with only 12 UTV racers finishing out of the starting 115. It is the largest off-road racing event in North America in terms of both competitors and spectators, combining intense desert racing and daunting rock crawling.

“The sheer attrition alone witnessed at King of the Hammers is a true testament to Yamaha’s Proven Off-Road performance – of the eight Yamahas in a field of 115 UTV entries, the YXZs still made up a quarter of those who actually finished,” said Donnie Luce, Yamaha’s off-road racing coordinator. “Furthermore, qualifying first and second, successfully completing the course, and securing the bLU cRU bonus – all in their first year at KOH – is evidence of the Greaves’ incredible talent as drivers, as well as the YXZ’s versatility, capability, and durability when pitted against the toughest terrain in racing.”

Although this was the first year the Wisconsin natives raced KOH, both CJ and Johnny Greaves are veteran off- road racers known for their short-course dominance in The Off-Road Championship (TORC) Series in the Pro 2 and Pro 4 truck classes. CJ is also the defending champion of the TORC Series Pro Stock UTV class, entering his second year as a Yamaha factory-supported racer aboard his Monster Energy Mutant Super Soda / Maxxis / Greaves Motorsports YXZ1000R.

Rounding out the top-ten, Kyle Anderson and his Weller Racing YXZ1000R finished a respectful 9th-place overall. In addition to Anderson and the GYTR turbo-equipped Greaves duo, this year’s UTV race featured an equally impressive lineup of veteran off-road racers piloting the Yamaha YXZ1000R, including last year’s top-finishing KOH YXZ1000R racer, Jason Weller, and Lucas Oil Regional Off-Road Racing Champion, Dustin Nelson.

The Yamaha YXZ1000R is the world’s only pure-sport SxS, providing unmatched direct-connection between driver and machine. Powered by an industry-first three-cylinder 998cc engine and five-speed manual transmission, the versatile YXZ1000R offers superior off-road capability, comfort and confidence in even the most difficult of terrain, including open desert, woods, and advanced rock crawling environments.

Every Yamaha SxS is proudly built at Yamaha’s state-of-the-art U.S. factory in Newnan, Georgia, for worldwide distribution.

POLARIS FACTORY RACING CONTINUES 2018 SUCCESS WITH SECOND CONSECUTIVE PODIUM SWEEP AT ICONIC KING OF THE HAMMERS

0

Minneapolis (February 8, 2018) – Polaris Factory Racing continued its electric start to the 2018 season with a podium sweep at the Can-Am King of the Hammers UTV Race, the world’s toughest one-day off-road race.

Following Ronnie Anderson’s win last week at WORCS season opener in the all-new RZR® RS1, Mitch Guthrie Jr.’s victory kept the Polaris Factory Racing team atop the podium. Guthrie Jr. was joined by fellow Polaris teammate Branden Sims in second and his father, Mitch Guthrie Sr., taking third. With multiple victories already secured early in this season, the Polaris team is primed to build upon its incredibly successful 2017 season.

From an early age, Mitch Guthrie Jr. has pursued his father’s pedigree of racing success and excellence – as Mitch Guthrie Sr. is a six-time King of the Hammers UTV champion and UTV racing legend. Despite having won multiple marquee races in his young career, including the Mint 400, UTV World Championships and Baja 1000, the coveted King of the Hammers title has eluded Guthrie Jr. until now. With his incredible victory at this year’s King of the Hammers event, it appears that a changing of the guard is in order from father to son.

“It’s been a long road getting here with countless hours spent practicing and even participating in this race with my dad a few times. To finally not just be in the race, but to walk away a champion is a huge honor for me and an experience that I will cherish for the rest of my life,” said Mitch Guthrie Jr. “My dad is my biggest inspiration and my toughest competition. We had a good plan coming in to run a smooth course, and the Polaris RZR was awesome and allowed us to come out on top.”

“We want to congratulate our entire team for their performance at this week’s event. To come back to King of the Hammers and sweep the podium for the second consecutive year is truly a testament to not just the Polaris RZR, but to each of the drivers on our team,” said Matt Boone, RZR and Marketing Director at Polaris. “We are thrilled for Mitch Jr. on his first career victory at King of the Hammers. We know what this race means to him and his family with his dad winning here so many times before.”

Yesterday’s victory continues the Polaris Factory Racing team’s dynamic start to the season that already includes victories at the Desert and Short Courses at the GMZ UTV Winter Nationals Casey Folks Parker 250, and the WORCS season opener at Orleans Arena last weekend in Las Vegas. These victories combined with an additional 43 wins and 129 podiums within the last two years, showcase how the Polaris Factory Racing team continues to outperform the competition in desert racing.

The Polaris Factory team will look to continue its success when it returns to competition on February 23 with Round 2 of the WORCS series at Canyon Motocross in Peoria, Arizona.

ALL-NEW POLARIS RZR® RS1 VICTORIOUS IN COMPETITIVE DEBUT

0

Minneapolis (February 6, 2018) – Just days following its commercial release, the all-new Polaris single seat RZR® RS1 captured two first-place finishes in its first competitive race this weekend at the WORCS season opener at Orleans Arena in Las Vegas. Polaris Factory Racing athlete Ronnie Anderson swept the Pro Side by Side classes, taking the title in the SxS Pro and Pro Stock classes, with a dominating performance in the new RZR RS1.

Ronnie’s nearly bone stock RZR RS1 – only upgraded to meet racing safety requirements – out paced the competitive field, even besting turbo vehicles in the production and stock class. Following the recent announcement of its own exclusive class in Red Bull Global Rallycross, and now winning its first official race, the new RZR RS1 is already proving it is setting a new standard where power meets precision and performance.

“The RZR RS1 did everything I asked of it today – incredible performance, unbelievably nimble, smooth and with tons of power,” said Ronnie Anderson, Polaris Factory Racing. “The Polaris design team has delivered the goods yet again. This is one serious racing machine.”

Coming off a dominant 22-win season in 2017, the Polaris Factory Racing team kicked off the 2018 racing season with victories at the Desert and Short Course Races at the GMZ UTV Winter Nationals Casey Folks Parker 250. The most dominating SXS team now has its sights set on taking its winning ways to yet another level, with the all-new RZR RS1 race-inspired machine. Polaris Factory Racing will return at King of The Hammers in Johnson Valley, CA on Wednesday, February 7.

Polaris’ most-agile RZR to date, RZR RS1 will also be the exclusive vehicle used in the new Red Bull Global Rallycross side-by-side class, Polaris GRC. The RZR RS1 will see its first Rallycross competition on Saturday, May 19 in the 2018 season opener at the Kentucky Exposition Center in Louisville.

The ultra-nimble 64” width RZR RS1 features a 110-HP ProStar 1000 H.O. 4-Stroke DOHC Twin Cylinder, the RZR XP® 1000’s suspension, upgraded drivetrain and compact, 83-inch wheelbase. The new precision-balanced chassis features a rear-mounted, dual-fan radiator for maximum engine cooling and a new race-hardened drivetrain for durability and instantaneous power. The RZR RS1 also adopts the trailing-arm suspension of the RZR XP 1000, to absorb unrelenting obstacles for the smoothest possible driving experience as you scythe through the most twisting of trails.

The RZR RS1 boasts 20 vehicle-specific accessories and comes in White Lightning and Black Pearl. The performance and power packed RZR RS1 starts at a price of just $13,999 and is now available in dealerships.

MINNEAPOLIS — Polaris is putting every open space and green-, desert- or mountain-trail on notice with the arrival of the world’s first single-seat RZR, the RZR RS1. The all-new RZR RS1 solo-cockpit format delivers a heightened sense of control and takes the hard-charging trail riding experience to another level, thanks to the perfect balance of power and precision.

The RZR RS1 is the ideal machine for a real driver’s driver looking to push beyond their limits, free from care or concern of a backseat driver. The single-seat center-of-mass position unlocks high-visibility sightlines to oncoming terrain and provides increased balance and feel within the chassis. The race-inspired driver ergonomics and new steering position create extra room for active arm and leg movement. The RZR RS1 is also equipped with a new brake system, giving drivers the option of traditional single-foot action or rally-inspired two-foot performance.

“The thing that you notice, right away with the RZR RS1, is that it’s much more of a driver’s machine, and it really ties you more in the driving experience,” said Tanner Foust, 3-time World Rally Cross Champion. “You have center-cockpit, you have the involvement in seeing the tires, and you have everything great about the fun of driving, taken up a notch. Personally, I think the RZR RS1 is about the gnarliest little wicked beast of a machine, that I have ever driven.”

Yamaha Outdoor Access Initiative Celebrates 10 Years

0

Kennesaw, Ga. – January 23, 2018 – Yamaha Motor Corp., USA, is proud to announce the Yamaha Outdoor Access Initiative (OAI), the powersports industry’s premiere access program dedicated to ensuring outdoor recreation opportunities for future generations, celebrates it’s 10-year anniversary. To date more than $3.5 million in funding and equipment over the last decade has been contributed to OAI’s mission: to assist and support outdoor enthusiasts working to protect and improve access to public land, as well as educate the public on its safe, sustainable recreational use. In celebration of this historic milestone, Yamaha produced a video in tribute to the hundreds of projects supported by OAI over the past decade: www.YamahaOAI.com/10YearsofOAI.

“Responsible use is critical for creating recreational access opportunities, in addition to protecting against the regular perils of land closures and restrictions,” said Mike Martinez, Yamaha’s RV operations vice president. “For those who rely on access to public land for work and play, the Yamaha Outdoor Access Initiative has proven to be the industry’s most reliable partner, and significant resource. The sheer number of grants and dollars provided by OAI over the last ten years to projects on the ground exemplifies Yamaha’s leadership in ensuring future generations the ability to realize their adventure.”

The 10-year OAI tribute video debuted at the 2018 SHOT Show in Las Vegas, kicking off a year of programming to showcase the accomplishments of the Yamaha Outdoor Access Initiative and its grant recipients. By sharing these great projects, Yamaha aims to further the program’s mission: to provide practical support for efforts promoting safe, responsible use of OHVs, educate the public on proper recreational land use and wildlife conservation practices, and protect appropriate and sustainable access to public lands.

“The outdoor community is remarkably diverse, yet unified by the necessity of admittance to land. Yamaha is proud to be leading the way for access, and we look forward to many more years as a productive partner with those working to safeguard land available for enjoyment,” said Steve Nessl Yamaha’s RV marketing manager. “We encourage everyone who enjoys outdoor recreation to get educated and get involved. If we can help, send a grant application; your awareness and action allows Yamaha to continue our industry- leading support of important projects nationwide, along with growing the program’s reach for generations to come.”

The Yamaha OAI accepts qualified applications for consideration of support and funding. For more information on the Outdoor Access Initiative, to submit a grant application, or learn more about its 10th anniversary, visit www.YamahaOAI.com.

(NYSE: PII), is providing 10 RANGER XP® 1000 EPS Northstar HVAC Edition side-by-side vehicles to the Minneapolis Police Department as it commands the public safety operation for Super Bowl® LIVE, the Big Game and other festivities. The Minneapolis Police Department, along with the support of officers from more than 50 Minnesota jurisdictions, are preparing for estimated 1 million Minnesotans and visitors to descend on Minneapolis and the surrounding communities.

The RANGER Pro-Shield® quad cab is fully-enclosed, and along with an industry-exclusive heating system, these customized RANGERs will keep law enforcement officers out of the Minnesota winter elements. The tailored patrol vehicles also have integrated law enforcement lighting kits from Federal Signal, the leader in innovative equipment and signaling products for first responders, adding another level of familiarity and ease of operation for officers.

“This is an exciting time for our home state and Polaris is honored to play a role in helping our local law enforcement create a safe and enjoyable experience for Minnesotans and visitors who take part in celebrating the Bold North,” said John Olson, PhD, vice president and general manager of Polaris Government and Defense. “Polaris Government and Defense was established to support the devoted and mission-focused customers who serve their country, state, county or city with vehicle offerings and accessories, like these RANGERs, specifically designed to meet event needs.”

“The Polaris RANGERs are an important part of our security strategy. In confined urban environments, these vehicles allow us a lot more flexibility to navigate amongst the large crowds and provide our officers with unique and community-friendly response capabilities, which is important as we hope to convey a safe and friendly environment to the public,” said Minneapolis Police Commander Scott Gerlicher, the public safety coordinator for Super Bowl® LII. “The Minneapolis Police Department uses RANGERs already and have found them to be incredibly valuable in these types of environments. In addition to being heated, the RANGERs are intuitive to operate, which is helpful since drivers may be federal agents, the State Patrol or other officers from around Minnesota.”

Police and fire departments across the country use RANGERs for off-road utility and access, as well urban patrols and crowd control, because of their enhanced maneuverability on sidewalks and curbs, improved sight lines, snow mobility, and rescue capability where other vehicles can’t reach.

As a founding sponsor of the Minnesota Super Bowl® Host Committee, Polaris is involved in a number of
activities aimed at creating a unique experience for Minnesotans and visitors alike, and celebrating Minnesota and its ‘Bold NorthTM’ spirit. On February 3, Polaris UpsideDowntown will feature professional snowmobile athlete Levi LaVallee performing a backflip over Nicollet Mall as a part of Super Bowl® LIVE Presented by Verizon®. Polaris is also providing the shuttle service for the Bold North® Zipline across the Mississippi River. Visit MNSuperBowl.com for more information.
