Can-Am Racers Earn Three Prestigious Off-Road Championships With Maverick X3 Side-by-Side Vehicle

0

Valcourt, Québec, Dec. 11, 2017 – Can-Am® X-Team drivers won three prestigious racing championships with the Can-Am Maverick® X3® Turbo R side-by-side vehicle in its first full season of off-road competition. Phil Blurton won the Best In The Desert (BITD) Pro Production Turbo class championship, a first for Can-Am. In the SCORE International desert racing series, Marc Burnett won the Pro UTV Forced Induction class with his Maverick X3 side-by-side vehicle. Kyle Chaney also had a banner season behind the wheel of the Can-Am Maverick X3, winning the 2017 The Off-Road Championship series Pro Mod UTV title.

“To win three significant off-road racing series with the Maverick X3 Turbo R platform in its first official full season of racing is quite a statement,” said Jeff Leclerc, Team Leader, Can-Am race department. “This early level of success speaks to the industry-leading design and performance of the Maverick X3 vehicle, but also to the commitment and dedication displayed by our all our teams both in the field and back home at BRP.”

BITD CHAMPION

Phil Blurton made quite an impression in his rookie season behind the wheel of his Can-Am Maverick X3 Turbo R side-by-side vehicle in the BITD racing series. The California racer, aided by back-to-back victories at the UTV World Championship and Vegas-to-Reno events, piloted his Can-Am / No Limit Maverick X3 Turbo R side-by-side vehicle to the UTV Pro Production Turbo class championship. It was the first BITD championship for both Blurton and factory Can-Am.

SCORE CHAMPION
With 348 points, Marc Burnett (Burnett Racing / Monster Energy / Can-Am) secured the 2017 SCORE International Pro UTV Forced Induction class championship with his Can-Am Maverick X3 Turbo R side-by-side vehicle. Burnett secured his second SCORE International UTV class championship (he won in 2014 with the original Can-Am Maverick Turbo) by tallying solid results, including a win at the Tijuana Desert Challenge, and, another runner-up finish at the San Felipe 250. And a top 10 finish at the historic point-to-point 50th annual Baja 1000 helped Burnett score enough championship points to fend off any challengers.

TORC CHAMPION
Kyle Chaney (Can-Am / XPS / Chaney Racing) had an outstanding first full season of TORC racing in 2017, to earn the Pro UTV Mod class championship. The Maverick X3 Turbo R side-by-side vehicle pilot built a solid points lead with steady finishes throughout the season, finishing on the box nine times prior to the final weekend. The Ohio pro and former two-time Grand National Cross Country XC1 Pro UTV champions, capped the year with three straight podiums (including two wins) to notch his first career TORC series title and first for Can-Am.
