Jagged X Wins Fourth Best in the Desert In A Row

0

The “Trans West Ford Henderson 250” marked the final race for the 2010 Best In The Desert racing season. Lots of energy surrounded this race as many of the class championships were to be decided on the outcome, including the 1900 Pro UTV Championship.

Coming into this race, there were four teams with a real chance to become the UTV Class Champions for 2010. Playing out all of the different scenarios on paper meant nothing once the flag dropped on Saturday morning as more than a dozen of the best-built UTVs in the world headed off into the desert to settle the score.

The Jagged X Polaris RANGER RZR S 800 left the line in the sixth starting position and had only gone a few miles before encountering a small fuel issue which forced the team to pull over and remedy the problem, losing nearly 10 minutes of valuable time.

Once they were back on course, Brandon Schueler wasted no time working his way back to the front of the pack. By the end the first lap the Jagged X No. 1919 car was running in the fifth spot and Schueler was able to battle his way to a third place finish securing the points championship for the 2010 season.

“2010 has been a very challenging season for the No. 1919 Jagged X/Polaris Racing Team,” said Bill Schueler of Jagged X. “After the loss of our primary car at the Silver State 300, it has been very exciting to be able to battle back to win another championship.”

“We congratulate Jagged X on their fourth Best in the Desert championship,” said Craig Scanlon, director of Marketing and Sales for Polaris’ Off-Road Vehicles Division. “The team overcame a very difficult season but prevailed due to their incredible dedication to the program.”

Jagged X is sponsored by Polaris Industries, MTA West, Elka Suspension, CR Designs, S&S Off Road, Simpson Products, ATL Fuel Systems, Tire Balls, Vision X Off Road, OMF Performance, Affordable Powder Coat, Robby Gordon Off Road, Trophy Engineering.

Arctic Cat 1000 LTD Dominates Baja 1000

0

The Fines Double Racing Team consisting of Reid Rutherford, Tony Valerio, Benn Vernadakis and Agustin Maduena showed the rest of the Class 26 competition that their Arctic Cat 1000 LTD 4×4 had what it takes to win the 2010 Baja 1000.

Returning as the defending class champions, the team piloted their big Cat to the finish line with an amazing time of thirty-nine hours and twenty-five minutes through the most adverse of conditions, finishing four hours ahead of second place and several sport ATVs and dirtbikes.

Team captain Reid Rutherford said, “We knew our fiercest class competitor would be Mike Penland on his Can-Am 800, but by the time we hit San Felipe, we had a twenty minute lead on second place and never looked back. The Arctic Cat 1000 ran flawlessly for two days of endless punishment. Winning this race is quite a statement for the durability of the Arctic Cat product.”

For 2010, the race started in Ensenada, Mexico, crossed the Peninsula twice and ended in the southern city of La Paz totaling 1,067 race miles. The terrain is described as primitive at best and ever-changing with silt, rocks, water crossings, heat, snow and outrageous elevation changes.

INTRODUCING DIRT TRAX MAGAZINE

All-Terrain Vehicle Magazine to be Re-branded Dirt Trax Magazine Beginning in 2011

The Publishers of All-Terrain Vehicle Magazine, the largest circulation ATV enthusiast publication in Canada and one of the larger circulation titles in the US ATV market, announced the magazine will be rebranded Dirt Trax Magazine – the All-Terrain Vehicle Magazine.

Supertrax Media, producers of the highly successful Dirt Trax Television series broadcast to over seven million viewers on the Outdoor Channel in the US and on the OLN and Wild TV in Canada, publish All-Terrain Vehicle Magazine.

The move to rebrand All-Terrain Vehicle Magazine comes as a result of the increasing acceptance and awareness of the Dirt Trax brand, particularly in the US marketplace. Dirt Trax Television has risen to the top of the powersport television business producing high quality, entertaining ATV television the past five years.

According to Mark and Kent Lester, publishers of All-Terrain Vehicle Magazine, the move will more closely align the magazine with the television show, leveraging crossover awareness between readers and viewers.

Mark added: “All-Terrain Vehicle Magazine occupies a leading position in the ATV industry, however, the Dirt Trax brand is enjoying increasing awareness with our readers. Moving the magazine into the Dirt Trax brand makes great sense as we center our publishing and television production efforts around the ‘Trax’ theme. With this move Dirt Trax becomes the first fully integrated media offering bridging TV, web and print media into a unified enthusiast source.”

For 22 years Supertrax Media has published Supertrax International Magazine, snowmobiling’s largest audited circulation title in both the USA and Canada.

Supertrax Media also produces SnowTrax Television, the longest running snowmobile enthusiast television adventure series in its 17th season with over 3.6 million North American viewers.

Beginning with the 2011 Buyers Guide Edition, Dirt Trax Magazine will feature expanded editorial opinion from Dirt Trax Television hosts Luke and AJ Lester as well as editorial linked to Dirt Trax Television content.

Kent Lester spoke about the rebranding: “Loyal All-Terrain Vehicle Magazine readers can expect Dirt Trax Magazine to continue the high quality, informative and entertaining opinion they’re accustomed to. It’s been the hallmark of the magazine for 11 years. We’re excited to bring the synergies of Dirt Trax Television and All-Terrain Vehicle Magazine into one powerful publication beginning in April 2011.”

Supertrax Publishing and Supertrax Media are the sport’s largest media outlets publishing SUPERTRAX Magazine in the US and Canada four times annually to 195,000 snowmobiling households per issue, the Go Snowmobiling Magazine in Ontario to 63,000 snowmobiling households per issue, and the sport’s longest running, largest viewership television series – SnowTrax Television – broadcast on the Outdoor Channel in the US and TSN and TSN 2 in Canada to 3.6 million viewers. Dirt Trax Television is watched by 7 million viewers on the Outdoor Channel in the US and OLN and Wild TV in Canada.

Should I Buy A Brute Force?

0

Dear Motorhead:

I’m thinking about geting a 2009 Brute Force 750 NRA Outdoors. Some guys I work with say they had problems with the u-joints and the belts messing up. Have you heard of or experince these problems with the Brute Force?

I have also seen how they drive their trucks though so I’m not really surprised that they have problems with their ATVs too!

Jason

Hi Jason

We haven’t tested a BF for about a year, but they haven’t changed at all since then.

My experience with the Brute is that its a very solid ATV. We didn’t ever experience any belt issues, but if you abuse your ATV and don’t pay attention to what your driveline is doing, you will burn belts and CV joints on any ATV.

We have certainly spun a number of CV joints on our ATVs and almost with out exception it always happens when your stuck in the mud, in 4X4 working the ATV hard and turning the wheels.

Eventually under these conditions, as the wheels are searching for traction, a CV joint will snap.

This is not a problem with just Kawasaki bikes or just the Brute Force. Its the same with all ATVs and I would suspect putting your buddies on any ATV would result in the same problems.

I say, if you have your heart set on a Brute Force, go for it. That 750 motor is one of the torquiest in the biz and will keep you happy for a long time.

Hope this helps you with your decision.

Motorsports Leader Sponsors Wildlife Proficiency Award Promoting Land Stewardship Education and Leadership

Yamaha Motor Corp., U.S.A., joined more than 54,000 agriculture students and professionals at the recently-held 83rd National FFA Convention in Indianapolis.

The company introduced its new partnership with the nation’s leading agricultural organization through its sponsorship of the FFA’s “Wildlife Production and Management – Entrepreneurship/Placement Proficiency” award.

As the motorsports leader in the outdoors community and an award sponsor, Yamaha employees were invited to serve on a panel of judges to select a winner of the Wildlife Proficiency award from among five nominees.

Proficiency awards recognize FFA members who excelled as agricultural entrepreneurs, employees or volunteers while they gained hands-on career experience. Aaron Thomas Shawler Wheeler, of the LaRue County FFA Chapter in Kentucky, won this yearÂ’s award for his work on a farm/hunt operation in Kentucky.

“Yamaha is proud to support the National FFA and its Wildlife Proficiency award, and we congratulate Aaron along with the other nominees for their accomplishments,” said Steve Nessl, Yamaha’s ATV and Side-by-Side (SxS) group marketing manager who was one of the panel judges. “We continue to be impressed by the caliber of these young people and take great pride in supporting their path of success in the field.”

The Wildlife Proficiency category was one of 47 FFA proficiency awards given at this yearÂ’s convention, which ran for four days this past October and included educational and leadership sessions, career development events and the National FFA Agricultural Career Show.

Yamaha also participated in the Career Show displaying the latest ATV and SxS vehicles and promoting safe riding and safety training. The company held drawings to give away riding gear – including a helmet, goggles and sweatshirt – to three lucky winners each day, and provided ATV Safety Institute training information to the professional educators and FFA alumni in attendance.

“We simply could not provide the depth and breadth of educational and leadership opportunities without companies such as Yamaha,” said Maggie Halferty, Regional Director of The National FFA Foundation. “We appreciate the advocates you have been for our future leaders in the National FFA.”

About Yamaha Motor Corp., U.S.A. – Yamaha Motor Corporation, U.S.A., (YMUS), a leader in the motorsports market, makes the toughest, most capable and versatile ATV and Side-by-Side vehicles. ITP AND WARNERT CAN-AM OUT FRONT

0

ITP and the Warnert Can-Am Racing team proved to be a potent combination throughout the 2010 Grand National Cross Country Championship Series.

Race wins, podium appearances and ultimately numerous overall class titles made headlines all season. No team had a greater impact this year, and its success came while using a wide variety of ITP tires. ITP’s Holeshot, QuadCross XC, TerraCross R/T and Mud Lite models all made their way to winnerÂ’s circle on a regular basis.

Most notable were the results of WarnertÂ’s utility class riders. Cliff Beasley, Michael Swift and Bryan Buckhannon all tallied perfect 160-point scores (amateur classes count the best eight finishes during the 13-event schedule). Beasley left no doubt by winning every single event to claim the U2 class championship (201-840cc modified ATVs with no racks). Buckhannon took the 4×4 Open class, while Michael Swift grabbed the 4×4 Limited division.

Chris Bithell and Adam McGill were both consistent front-runners in the XC1 Pro class in 2010. Bithell enjoyed an overall victory at round six and finished the season with three straight top-three podium visits. Just edging Bithell for third place in the final point standings McGill, who showed up on the podium eight times in 13 races.

Rounding out this Minnesota-based team’s season was Lexie Coulter, who finished fourth overall in the highly competitive Women’s class standings. Coulter won the opening round and then stood on the podium seven more times during the series. Less than ten points separated the top four riders in this division.

Congratulations to the riders, technicians and management who made it all possible. ITP is proud to have been able to play a part in a sensational season.

Since 1982, ITP has grown into the world’s #1 ATV/UTV aftermarket tire and wheel source, and continues to provide a complete line of innovative tires and wheels for virtually all ATVs and UTVs.
