Yamaha Trial Verdict Update

Third Trial Verdict in Favor of Yamaha; Jury Finds No Product Defect with Yamaha Rhino

A jury in San Bernardino County, California has rejected the plaintiff’s claims and awarded no damages today in this case involving an accident on a Yamaha Rhino.

This follows another jury decision in favor of Yamaha on July 26, 2010 in a case in Orange County, California, and is the third time a jury has rejected plaintiff’s claims regarding the Rhino’s design, finding no defect in the Rhino.

The jury made a decision based on the facts. The testimony and evidence during the trial showed that this unfortunate incident had nothing to do with the design of the product.

Yamaha is saddened whenever anyone is injured in an accident involving a Yamaha product and this incident underscores the importance of following the safety guidelines posted on the Rhino and in the owner’s manual, and to always operate the products in a safe and responsible manner.

Drivers and passengers should wear helmets, protective gear including over-the-ankle foot wear, and the vehicle’s three-point seat belts at all times.

The Rhino is a safe and useful off-road vehicle that has won virtually every “first in class” award and top safety ratings in independent reviews since its introduction.

Yamaha stands firmly behind the Rhino and will continue to vigorously defend the product. To learn more about the Yamaha Rhino, visit our website www.truthaboutrhino.com

Suzuki Snags Manufacturer’s Cup Again

0

With a single round left in the AMA ATV Motocross Championship, Suzuki has already clinched the prestigious Manufacturer’s Cup Award. This is the third year in a row that Suzuki has been the most winning brand in the series.

Suzuki received this honor by securing the most points of any manufacturer in the Pro class of the exciting 11-round series.

At least one racer on the Rockstar Makita Suzuki two-man team, Dustin Wimmer and Josh Creamer, have been on the podium each round and tallied a collective seven first-place finishes and seven double podiums.

In fact, as we head into the final round at Loretta LynnÂ’s Ranch, Wimmer and Creamer are the only two riders in contention for the 2010 AMA ATV Motocross Championship.

Suzuki’s National Sales Manager, Rod Lopusnak, is proud of winning the coveted Manufacturer’s Cup. “2010 not only marks the third year in a row that the QuadRacer R450 has won the most races, but it comes during our celebration of the 50th year of international racing. We are very proud of this achievement as it demonstrates just how good a product this sport ATV is, as well as the kind of commitment Suzuki has made to the sport.”

The QuadRacer R450 has certainly been the ATV to beat this year, as in the previous three years, and has so far secured a 62-point lead over the next brand.

Suzuki is excited about finishing the AMA ATV MX series with a Championship as well as this coveted award.

FIRST LOOK: 2011 Polaris Ranger 500 EFI

0

The minds at Polaris came up with a big one last season putting a potent 400 mill in a mid sized Ranger. This chassis is smaller than its XP brother and able to fit in the back of a pickup, making transport super easy and opening up uses for riders who don’t own a trailer. The truth is, the 400 engine works so well in this smaller frame it matches up with some 500cc units offered by the competition. Smart.

So how does Polaris trump a dessert already covered in maraschino cherries and whipped cream? For 2011, its mid-sized frame boasts a fuel injected 500 powerplant. This 4-stroke single is one of the industry’s smoothest and most powerful 500cc engines. Packed neatly beneath the seat of this mid-sized workhorse is ample power to move you over your favorite trail smoothly. Hook a plow to the front of this puppy for clearing snow and you’re ensured smooth and even EFI power when the mercury dips into the cold zone.

Here’s another bonus for 500 EFI Ranger buyers. This configuration is also available in a 4-seater! Yup, on the heels of the incredibly cool RZR S 4, Polaris has taken this mid sized chassis and stretched it like warm dough to offer an extra row of seats. Load up the family for a day on the trails or pack your hunting buddies comfortably in your Camo Ranger with loads of room for guns, gear and leftover space for your trophy kill.

This 500cc EFI engine configuration in both single and 2-row variations works amazingly well. Our test pilots absolutely love the carbureted 400 mid-sized Ranger and it’s often difficult to get a spin on it as it’s always in the hands of another rider. The 500 EFI-edition we rode recently in Montana displayed the same great handling characteristics with a noticeable dose of extra power and smoothness.

We eagerly await the arrival of our long-term test unit to get some extended saddle time. We also look forward to pitting this 500 EFI against other 500 side-x-sides in this class. Stay tuned, there’s more to come.

Chad Wienen takes Red Bud Pro MX

Team Motoworks / Can-Am now has two Pro-class overall wins in the past three rounds of the AMA ATV Motocross National series after Chad Wienen raced his Can-Am DS 450 ATV to a win at Red Bud near Buchanan, MI this past weekend.

This is the first overall win of the year for Wienen and his first on the Can-Am DS 450. In all, there were four Can-Am DS 450 ATVs in the top 10 Pro-class finishing spots.

“Chad went into the weekend with confidence in himself and his Can-Am machine, as he went out and had fun racing on one of his favorite tracks on the circuit,” says Jimmie O’Dell, Racing Manager for Can-Am ATVs at BRP. “The entire team worked extremely hard all weekend to put him in the position for this win. Everyone at BRP is very proud of him and it’s exciting to see Chad earn his first national win on the DS 450.”

Wienen set the pace early on when he pulled the fastest qualifying time during Saturday’s final practice session and earned the fast qualifier award on Sunday morning.

In the first moto, he was fifth out of the holeshot and quickly passed his way to third, but ran out of time to advance farther in the moto. In the second moto, however, he quickly passed for the lead and pulled the fastest lap of anyone during the weekend.

“Red Bud is my favourite track so I came out here to have fun and I am really excited to take the win. It’s a really great accomplishment and I am glad to be able to give it my best. I have to thank all my sponsors, including Can-Am and Motoworks for helping me make it happen,” said Wienen. “I felt really good at qualifiers and my quad was running great. I was pretty happy about getting the fastest time.”

In the amateur classes, Cole Henry, swept the Production A races on his Can-Am DS 450 going 1-1 for the weekend overall in the class. This gives him the Production A class championship for the year with one round still left to go in the season.

“It probably won’t sink in until later on, but I wrapped up the Production A Championship with this win today, so I am really stoked about that.” Said Cole Henry “I’ve been working hard all season and it has finally paid off.”

The final round in the AMA ATV Motocross Championship will be August 14-15 at Loretta Lynn’s near Hurricane Mills, TN. For more information on Can-Am racing, the entire 2010 schedule, the 2010 contingency program and DS 450 amateur racer support program, please visit www.can-amxteam.com.
