Jagged X’s RANGER RZR Dominates

0

Press Release –

Jagged X and their No. 1919 RANGER RZR repeated history and continued to dominate the Best in the Desert Series by taking their second “Vegas to Reno” win.

The team finished the race in 17 hours and 26 minutes, a full hour and 18 minutes faster than the only other finisher. The win is the No. 1919’s tenth consecutive Best in the Desert finish.

Known as the longest and most grueling off-road race in the U.S., this year’s “Vegas to Reno” race was 457.5 miles with varying elevations consisting of 2,500 ft on the desert floor to more than 9,000 ft. in the mountains.

Jagged X and the No. 1919 mastered the changing elevations and extreme temperature swings in true dominating style.

“The second ‘Vegas to Reno’ wins proves there’s nothing the RANGER RZR can’t dominate,” said Craig Scanlon, product line sales manager for Polaris. “This race threw everything at us; desert, mountains, steep climbs, extreme temperature changes and the RANGER RZR gobbled it up looking for more.”

Jagged X’s RANGER RZR, piloted once again by Brandon Schueler with co-driver Blake Van de Loo, took off in second place and within a few miles Team Jagged had taken the lead and was on a track to keep it.

Temperatures were more than 100 degrees as the RANGER RZR made its way North towards Reno, Nevada and the finish line. The Jagged X lead was never challenged but at about 2:00 am, after nearly 400 miles of dirt and rocks, the No. 1919 hit a huge ledge hidden in the deep silt and damaged the left front suspension.

Driver and Co-driver managed to three-wheel the car into the last pit where the pit crew was able to repair the damage and send the jagged X team, which was still in the lead, to the finish.

The next race for Jagged X and their RANGER RZR is “The Bilek Racing Silver State 300,” in Mesquite, Nevada, September 26-28.

Eichner Team Demonstrate True Grit

0

Press Release –

The Polaris / Lonestar / Eichner Racing team showed determination at the World Off-Road Championship Series race held in Olympia, Washington, August 15 – 17, 2008.

Team Captain, Doug Eichner, who entered WORCS Round 6 with the misfortune of a broken toe and injured shoulder, demonstrated the true grit he is known for as he took on the demanding 90-minute race.

Despite injury, Eichner and his Outlaw 450 MXR with enhanced power from Yoshimura R&D of America Inc., FOX Racing Shox and MAXXIS tires turned in a commendable fifth place finish in the Pro Main Event.

Additionally, Eichner, in his Polaris RANGER RZR, took on the Side-by-Side event which proved to be a spectator favorite and continues to produce record numbers of competitive units in this division.

Eichner captured the lead on the first lap and had the crowd screaming as he and his Co-Pilot, Larry Heidler, were the only unit to take on the large log jump in the motocross section of the course.

Eichner held a commanding lead and then made a sudden stop to allow a safety inspection of his Co-Pilot’s racing harness. Back under way, Eichner charged hard to regain the lead and finished the race with a sizable lead and impressive first place finish. Eichner continues to lead this event in the overall point standings.

Pro team rider, John Shafe, returned to WORCS racing after taking a couple of months to recover from wrist surgery. Shafe finished the Pro Main Event in the top 10 aboard the Outlaw 450 MXR. Shafe is training hard to return in top form for WORCS round 7.

Team Support Rider, Angela Butler has had a mechanically flawless season in the WORCS series with the Outlaw 450 MXR and continues to dominate the Womens Division with the win at WORCS Round 6 as well as taking eighth place in the Pro-Am Class. This hard charger currently leads the Womens Division in the WORCS series.

“I knew this race would be a challenge for us,” stated Eichner. “With John Shafe returning after his wrist surgery and my own injuries to contend with, the rough track and tight turns did present a challenge. The Polaris machines worked awesome and I was pleased that we could press on for the sake of our sponsors.”

Which ATV Rides Smoothest?

Question:

Dear Motorhead,

Could you please tell me what is the best atv with the best, smoothest ride? I had a lower back operation 3 years ago and a neck fusion 1 1/2 years ago. I NEED TO WEAR A NECK COLLAR AT ALL TIMES.

We use our ATVs mainly for trail riding and a little for snow removal. I now have an 2003 Kawasaki 700 utility and need something that is noticably smoother.

Looking forward to your expert advice.

Patrick

Response:

Thanks for your email!

If you regularly read All-Terrain Vehicle Magazine you would see the common thread with ride quality is Polaris. In our opinion, the best riding Sport Utility ATV’s in the biz are Polaris Sportsman models.

Among those models I would suggest and have verified through many miles of testing the Sportsman Touring or the Sportsman X-2 are the best of the best. This goes for all the full-size Sportsman models with varying powerplants (500, 700, 800).

Hope this helps you with what seems like a pretty important decision in your particular situation.
