SCRAMBLER PILOT SEALS TORN CHAMPIONSHIP

0

Round 8 of the Texas Off-Road Nationals (TORN) would see Team UXC Racer Chris Robinson take the win and seal the Utility Quad Championship on his Scrambler XP 1000 EPS.

The race would see some stiff competition with eight utility quads lined up to tackle the 5-mile course. Robinson would jump off the line in second and by mile one, take the lead. He would hold the lead for the next two laps, get passed for a short amount of time, and then regain the lead to take the win and championship.

“The Polaris Scrambler XP 1000 EPS was solid and my Custom Axis Suspension along with my Fasst Company Flexx Bars soaked up the choppy filed sections that were full of acceleration and braking pumps. The Maxxis Ceros tires provided great traction and stable cornering on the off camber hill climbs,” said Robinson. “I would like to thank all of my sponsors and looking forward to a strong 2015 season.”

“We would like to congratulate Chris on bringing home the first championship for the Scrambler XP 1000,” said Donna Beadle, race team manager for Polaris. “Chris has worked hard all season and has been a great asset to the team.”

Team UXC Racing heads south to Ensenada, Mexico for the 47th Annual Tecate SCORE Baja 1000. The team is leading the Sportsman Quads Class in points for the series and looks to have a solid Baja 1000.

RJ Anderson XP1K2

0

XP1K2 is a seven-minute onslaught of intense off-road road action, set in a massive 600-acre forest near Mt. Baker, Washington.

The video stars Off-Road Racing Champion RJ Anderson, driving a custom Holz Racing built Polaris RZR XP 1000 Side-by-Side (SxS), complete with a Polaris ProStar 1000 Muzzys Performance engine and custom Walker Evans Racing shocks.

The XP1K2 crew, including Tony Vanillo and his team of dirt and ramp engineers at the Off-Road Management Group, transformed the remote wooded location into a stunning array of creative obstacles, which included more than 20 natural terrain and man-made works of (terrifying) art.

Spoiler alert – RJ Anderson reclaims the world record for a distance jump in a SxS – and does so by clearing a death-defying 100-foot gap!

More than a year of planning went in to the development and execution of the XP1K2 campaign. It took the build team of 10, more than a month to carve out the heart-stopping playground as multiple obstacles featured hand built ladder trail which required two to three days each to weld, cover in wood and secure safely.

The Mad Media crew of 40 then spent 14 days on location battling wind, rain, mud and fog to capture each of their incredible imagined obstacles.

Silverado Polaris ACE+ Concept Ready for Trail

0

The Chevrolet Silverado Polaris ACE+ concept shows that while Chevy’s full-size truck was designed for work, it also works hard to enable recreational interests. The outdoors-themed concept debuts at the SEMA Show this week and is paired with the new Polaris ACE – a revolutionary single-seat, sit-in off-road vehicle launched earlier this year.

The concept truck is based on the production 2015 Silverado 1500 crew cab with a 6-foot-6-inch cargo bed and the Z71 Off-Road package.

“The Silverado is designed to work hard for its owner, on or off the clock,” said Sandor Piszar, director of Chevrolet truck marketing. “Pairing it with the new Polaris ACE perfectly illustrates how the Silverado easily changes its support role when it’s time to leave the job site for the trail head.”

Blending production accessories available through Chevrolet dealers and concept components under evaluation for future production, the Silverado Polaris ACE+ concept conveys the ruggedness of today’s outdoorsmen.

Its ready-for-anything stance is driven by large, 33-inch–by-12.5-inch off-road tires mounted on Chevrolet Accessories 22-inch aluminum wheels, while concept fender flares enhance the truck’s broad-shouldered appearance.

Additional exterior features include a concept bed-mounted sports bar with custom LED lighting and a concept front nudge bar. The cargo bed also features the available, spray-on bedliner – with the Chevy bowtie logo – that’s offered on all Silverado models for 2015. A black exterior, with blacked-out trim, is accented with graphics coordinated with the Polaris ACE.

Inside, the concept truck features leather-trimmed seating and the latest connectivity features offered across the Silverado lineup, including MyLink enhancements with Text Messaging Alerts, Siri Eyes Free and new, available OnStar with 4G LTE and standard built-in Wi-Fi hotspot.

It provides a mobile hub for drivers and passengers to stay connected (includes a three-month/three-gigabyte data trial) – a particularly helpful feature out on the trail.

Under the hood, the Silverado Polaris ACE+ concept sports the EcoTec3 5.3L V-8, which features direct injection, continuously variable valve timing and Active Fuel Management (cylinder deactivation) to help generate 355 horsepower and 383 lb.-ft. of torque. The engine’s advanced technologies also enable an EPA-estimated 23 mpg on the highway (2WD models), giving Silverado the best V-8 highway efficiency in the segment.

Engine performance is enhanced with concept air-induction and exhaust systems, while braking performance is enhanced with a concept Brembo brake package featuring large, 16-inch slotted front rotors matched with six-piston calipers and high-performance brake pads.

The concept and performance components don’t alter the capability of the Silverado, which includes a maximum payload capacity of 2,100 pounds for crew cab/6-foot-by-6-inch box configurations with the 5.3L engine and 4WD – and a trailering capacity of 10,800 pounds.

When equipped with the available 6.2L engine and Max Trailering Package, the maximum trailering capability for the 2015 Silverado 1500 increases to 12,000 pounds.

The revolutionary design of the new Polaris ACE is the perfect recreational partner for the technologically-advanced Chevrolet Silverado. It combines the size and nimbleness of the company’s Sportsman All-Terrain Vehicle (ATV) with attributes of traditional side-by-side vehicles in a rider-centric design with a trail-capable and easily-transportable 48-inch width. The Polaris ACE features a centralized, single seating position between the four wheels, along with 10.25 inches of ground clearance and – thanks to a fully independent rear suspension – 9.5 inches of rear travel. It also features Polaris’ on-demand all-wheel-drive system, which automatically engages when more forward traction is required and reverts back to two-wheel drive when it’s not. The vehicle is available with a 32- or 45-horsepower ProStar engine with electronic fuel injection, delivering smooth, efficient power.

Yamaha ATV Racing Takes 2014 Series Titles

0

Yamaha ATV Racing capped a record breaking, championship winning season this year with the new 2014 YFZ450R filling podium spots and taking top honors in motocross and cross country racing.

Among the year’s highlights for team blue, Yamaha’s Dustin Nelson celebrated a record sixth QuadX Series championship, Chad Wienen took his third straight AMA Racing title, and Yamaha received the AMA Pro ATV Manufacturer’s title for the third year in a row.

“I’m proud to cap off this racing season with my sixth QuadX championship,” Nelson said. “The 2014 YFZ450R ran flawlessly at every event carrying me all the way to the #1 plate!”

Yamaha’s YFZ450R – the highest performance, most technologically advanced sport ATV – received some significant power and handling updates in 2014. The YFZ450R is assembled in the U.S.A. at Yamaha’s factory in Newnan, Georgia.

“This year was one of my best yet – the team worked so well together,” Wienen said. “Not only did we win seven of the nine AMA rounds, we also were able to grab some holeshots and lead from start to finish. This new Yamaha YFZ450R has helped elevated my game to a whole new level. As for 2015, we are working to keep the same program that has won three straight championships and ultimately make it four.”

Leading Yamaha’s ATV racing efforts in the Grand National Cross Country (GNCC) series, Yamaha’s Walker Fowler doubled his first-place podiums this year to six and pushed hard to the final race taking second overall and just missing the top spot by the thinnest of margins in this year’s XC1 class. Cole Richardson captured the XC-2 class Championship aboard his YFZ450R with eight wins on the season.

“The amount of times we were rubbing and bouncing off each other was insane,” Fowler said of the season finale as he battled for the championship. “It was controlled chaos and it was just so cool.”

Yamaha’s Thomas Brown grabbed five podiums in the AMA Racing series with a first and second place finish at Amsoil ATV Showdown at Sunset Ridge and NYCM Insurance National at Unadilla, respectively. Just missing second place overall by two points, Brown took third place overall for 2014.

“I had a great program – awesome team members and a bullet proof quad – and we were pumped to be on the podium so many times this year,” Brown said. “I’m already getting excited for next year and look forward to building on our momentum and grabbing more wins!”

Yamaha continues to lead the sport ATV market in sales, championships and support. This year has seen extended trackside support for all ATV racers at each stop of the AMA ATV nationals. Layne Barnes and Pro Motorsports from Mt. Pleasant, Iowa, supported all of the events on behalf of Yamaha stocking replacement parts and providing technical assistance to riders on race days.
Yamaha, the number one brand in sport ATVs, also supports racers in the Grand National Cross Country series, World Off-Road Championship Series and Yamaha Quad-X Series.

Yamaha Motor Corporation, U.S.A., (YMUS) a leader in the motorsports market, makes the toughest, most capable and versatile ATV and Side-by-Side vehicles. The company’s ever-expanding product offerings also include motorcycles, outboard motors, personal watercraft, snowmobiles, boats, outdoor power equipment, accessories, apparel and much more.
