BRP Adds Models To Amateur Racer Support Program

0

For the 2012 ATV and side-by-side racing season, BRP has added certain Can-Am Outlander and Renegade ATV models and Can-Am Commander side-by-side vehicles to its amateur racer support program that has included the Can-Am DS 450 ATV for the past three racing seasons.

To complement the additional models added, BRP will also support new 4×4 ATV and side-by-side classes and series adding to its industry-leading Can-Am X-Team Racing contingency program.

“BRP understands the value of an ATV racing contingency program and has already established itself as an industry leader with the DS 450 Amateur Racer Support Program,” said Jimmie OÂ’Dell, Race Manager, Can-Am. “We added 4×4 ATV models and side-by-side vehicles as way to support those amateur racers who choose to race 4×4 ATVs and side-by-sides. BRP wants to fuel their desire to compete and make it more feasible to chase their dreams, whether it be on a local or national level.”

Starting right now, eligible units in the program include all new or unused 2010, 2011 and 2012 Can-Am Outlander and Renegade ATVs, and all 2011 and 2012 new or unused Can-Am Commander side-by-side vehicles.

Benefit of the program includes a $1000 factory discount on all eligible ATV models and a $1500 factory discount on all eligible side-by-sides.

Full details of the Can-Am X-Team racing contingency program will be released in the following months. This new 4×4 support program joins the existing DS 450 Racer Support Program and begins immediately.

Amateur racers who compete in their local series or a nationally recognized racing circuit can qualify for the model rebate. They will need to register with an authorized Can-Am dealer and purchase a qualifying ATV or SxS. However, the number of vehicles eligible for the program is limited and once BRP reaches that number, the program will end.

Racers, who meet the 4×4 contingency program qualifications can earn the rebate and also receive cash payouts in the amount earned based on their finishing position in an event.

The payment is mailed directly to the participant or legal guardian. BRP will also continue to award contingency for overall championships at the conclusion of the racing season.

Contingency cash is paid out in all major U.S. national racing series, including the Can-Am Grand National Cross Country (GNCC) series, World Off-Road Championship Series (WORCS), High Lifter Mud Nationals as well as numerous local off-road racing series.

The list of qualified racing series has expanded for 2012 to include even more racing circuits, from desert events to hare scrambles to endurance events in the U.S. and Canada. The 2012 Can-Am X-Team Racing Contingency Program will be announced at a later date.

Your Best In Class Pick Is Wrong!

Dear Motorhead:

Polaris 500 as best in class? What a joke! Obviously it wasn’t rode in real conditions or for very long.

I have never met anybody that likes theirs as much as Grizzly owners like theirs. The Grizzly is lighter, fast handling and very comfortable.

Obviously Polaris gives you more sponsorship money!

John

Dear John:

Thanks for your email!
I suspect you may be in the top 5% of owners who are 100% loyal to their brand and rarely listen to anything about another product.

I’m not poking at you as you also tend to be an “influencer” among your friends and OEM’s love having you on their side!

Just to clarify, we didn’t pick the 500 Sportsman over the Grizzly 550 – we picked the Polaris Sportsman 550 XP as the BIC winner and the Grizzly and the 500 Sportsman were runners up.

We respect your opinion, however we ride em all and Yamaha is a good sponsor here as is Polaris – it’s ultimately all about the product.

WHY NO COVERAGE OF CHINESE BRANDS?

Dear Motorhead:

Why doesn’t anyone test ATVs made in China? Recently on Dirt Trax TV you did a special on 2-Up ATVs, but said only 3 companies made 2-ups.

I recently bought a QLINK RODEO 500 2-up that is made in China. so far it seems to be good, but you never read or see anything about these ATVs and I was wondering why.

Thanks,

Keith

Thanks for your email!

We do not include off-shore ATV’s in much of our editorializing these days as the makers of many brands have folded.

Unfortunately, because these Chinese and Taiwanese makers have never participated in any ATV industry associations there is no way of knowing how many of them still exist.

However, you are correct, the off-shore makers were producing two-up models. Hopefully yours will be one that stays in the industry to supply service parts.

Thanks,

Motorhead Mark
