MOOSE RACING M1 BOOT

0

The generally recommended foot wear for riding ATVs is an over the ankle boot that provide protection for your feet, legs, ankles.

Boots specifically designed for motocross or ATV riding will last longer and protect better than construction boots or rubber boots and provide significantly more protection.

Moose’s M1 Boot weighs only 3 and a half pounds so you don’t feel like you’re lugging around ankle weights while you cruise down your local trail system.

Featuring a leather upper coated in polyurethane and a contoured polyurethane shin plate and ankle plate, the M1’s strengthened exterior resists impact and abrasion and provides additional protection for your feet and lower legs.

Also, to protect your inner leg from extreme engine temperatures, there’s a split-grain leather calf guard that is resistant to heat.

The four polycarbonate two-position latching buckles that lock down the polyurethane closure straps allow you to adjust the tightness of your boot at different heights on your leg to maximize comfort and to eliminate wiggling or excessive movement of the boot while you’re riding.

Another great feature that we’ve come to appreciate is this boot is available with two different tread patterns. An MX sole used mainly for track riding and ATV sole featuring a more aggressive tread design that will allow you to maintain a good grip on your foot-pegs even when you’ve been through some serious muck pits.

Polaris or Off-Shore Brand?

Question:

Dear Motorhead:

I’m 60 years Old and have never owned an ATV. I’m thinking of buying a new 2010 Polaris touring 850 EPS (I want to get it right the first time).

I’ve noticed a local dealer is now selling a unit called a DINLI Centhor 700, which looks decent. Can you advise if these are good machines or should I avoid it like the plague?

Thanks,

JT

Thanks for your email!

Without getting into a long diatribe you are dead-on correct in your pick with the 850 XP Sportsman Touring.

We have one here and everyone in our camp is doing backflips over it’s superb ride quality, excellent power, predictable handling and the EPS power steering system not to mention the Comfort Ride rear seat suspension system.

This is a very reliable and well built product as well. If your dealer and you see eye-to-eye then we would suggest you have aced the purchase procedure for acquiring a stand-out ATV.

Does that sound like a good recommendation?

FIFTH JURY VERDICT FOR YAMAHA

JURY IN ALABAMA ONCE AGAIN REJECTS PLAINTIFF’S CLAIMS REGARDING YAMAHA RHINO

A jury in Montgomery, Alabama today rejected the plaintiffs’ claims and returned a unanimous defense verdict in McMahon vs Yamaha, a case involving an accident on a Yamaha Rhino.

This verdict in favor of Yamaha marks the fifth time that a jury has rejected plaintiffs’ claims regarding the Rhino’s design, finding no defect in the Rhino, and the second in Alabama. In August, a jury in Alexander City, Alabama found for Yamaha in another Rhino trial.

Yamaha is saddened whenever anyone is injured in a Yamaha product-related accident, and we urge all our customers to follow the safety guidelines posted on the Rhino and in the owner’s manual, and to always operate the products in a safe and responsible manner.

Drivers and passengers should at all times wear helmets, protective gear including over-the-ankle foot wear, and the vehicle’s three-point seat belts.

The Rhino is a safe and useful off-road vehicle when driven responsibly, and has won virtually every “first in class” award and top safety ratings in independent reviews since its introduction.

Yamaha stands firmly behind the Rhino and will continue to vigorously defend the product.

Borich Finishes 2010 Season with a Victory

0

Chris Borich and his Yoshimura-powered Suzuki QuadRacer R450 put an exclamation mark on their championship-winning 2010 season on Saturday by dominating the finale of the GNCC ATV season at the Ironman in Crawfordsville, Indiana.

Borich lead from wire to wire and finished the two-hour long woods race more than a minute ahead the rest of the pack. Borich is now the back-to-back GNCC ATV Champion and will keep the coveted No. 1 plate on his quad throughout the 2011 season.

Borich started Saturday’s race off right, nabbing the holeshot and never letting off the throttle of his Yoshimura-prepped quad. The racecourse was challenging with a little bit of mud and plenty of dusty, fast sections.

Borich didn’t have to worry about other racers’ roost, because he led the entire race and finished well ahead of the rest of the field. The win at the season finale marks Borich’s 11th victory of the 13-race season, proving that he is indeed a champion.

“I got a good start and I knew I had the championship all wrapped up, so I decided to go out put the hammer down to see what I could pull,” said Borich. “It was just an awesome day out there and I was having a ball all by myself.”

Yoshimura is proud to be part of Chris’ championship effort in 2010, and congratulates him on his amazing season. “Chris is a true champion who has it all: speed, talent, and dedication to get to the finish line first,” Yoshimura’s Marketing Manager Kory Ellis said. “Yoshimura is happy to be the engine that helped drive Chris to another well-earned championship, and we are all very proud of his 2010 season.”

Other Yoshimura racers were also on hand this year in the GNCC circuit. ATV MX racer Harold Goodman spent his first GNCC season on his Yoshimura-prepped Honda TRX450R and finished just outside the top 10 with a solid 11th-place finish, and Thomas Brown made his GNCC debut this year aboard his Yoshimura Yamaha YFZ450R.

A Shift In Power

0

If you’re close to the ATV and SxS industry it has probably occurred to you there’s an innovation and technology shift going on.

Here’s what’s becoming increasingly obvious as we move further into the second decade of the new millennium: The Japanese OEMs are not the industry innovation leaders anymore.

Most of the really new, innovative and often risky ideas reaching production are coming from, are you ready, the domestic ATV builders.

It is undeniable Polaris has a stranglehold on ATV and Side x Side marketshare claiming to be the world’s number one maker of ATVs and UTVs.

Can Am, the Canadian maker of Ski-Doo snowmobiles and Sea-Doo watercraft, has a rich history of innovation in these powersport segments and wouldn’t you know it, the company is on the cutting edge of new stuff in the ATV and SxS business.

You cannot deny Arctic Cat has been pushing the boundaries with innovative ATVs that have broken into new segments and fresh Side x Sides that push the envelope.

Ten years ago this would have been laughable. Today, it is reality.
