The John Deere Horicon Works today announced production of the company’s 500,000th Gator utility vehicle, marking the milestone by building one of John Deere’s latest models, the XUV825i – the fastest and most powerful Gator ever manufactured in a long line of work and recreational machines.

“Reaching this milestone of building 500,000 Gators is a significant accomplishment for our company, our employees and our customers,” said Dan Hoffman, factory manager, John Deere Horicon Works. “Our full line of Gator utility vehicles serves a wide range of customers who depend on their reliability and usefulness. That’s an obligation we take quite seriously.”

The heritage of the Gator product began in 1987 when John Deere first built utility machines that preceded the Gator’s design and creation. Then in 1993, John Deere launched its highly successful Gator utility vehicle, which now has 17 different models and is sold to customers in agriculture, construction, turf care, recreation, and the military.

Although Deere manufactured at other locations in the past, the utility vehicles are now exclusively designed and built in Horicon, Wis.

“We aspire to produce and sell the next 500,000 faster than the first,” said Siva Sundaresan, global director of utility vehicles. “We expect to continue our success in these products as John Deere remains committed to deliver an industry-leading portfolio of utility vehicles to customers.”

Heading into the next weekend of GNCC racing, Warnert Racing / Can-Am GNCC racer Michael Swift has much to reflect upon after his 4×4 Limited championship-clinching performance at the Unadilla GNCC in upstate New York. His impressive win aboard his Can-Am Outlander 800R XT brought him his fifth championship in a row.

“What can you say about Michael Swift?” says Jimmie O’Dell, Racing Manager for Can-Am ATVs at BRP. “He is one of the smartest, most consistent racers I’ve ever seen. When he pulls up to the line the rest of the field knows it is truly a race for second place. We at BRP are excited to see Swift get his fifth GNCC championship on the Warnert Racing / Can-Am Outlander 800R XT.”

Since making the switch to Can-Am at the beginning of the 2006 GNCC season, Swift has a winning percentage of 77 percent. He has taken the win in 48 of the 62 races he’s entered since the Orange Crush GNCC opener in 2006.

In the rest of the morning racing at Unadilla, Lexie Coulter piloted her Warnert Racing / Can-Am DS 450 to second overall in the session. She currently is fourth in the Women’s class championship.

Rick Cecco raced his Can-Am Outlander 800R XT to the 4×4 Open win, and represents his second win of the season in the class. Cliff Beasley continued his quest for a perfect season aboard his Warnert Racing / Can-Am Renegade 800R X xc as he again took the U2-class win; that win represents his 10th out of 10 races this season.

Justin Jones Takes Pro-Am Overall in Arizona

0

Yoshimura rider Justin Jones continued his impressive form at round seven of the 2010 ITP QuadCross Series in Surprise, Arizona. Jones, riding aboard his Yoshimura-tuned TRX450, took his sixth win of the season and extended his points lead even more over second place.

Justin used the Yoshimura power to his advantage and handedly grabbed the holeshot in the first moto. From there, he put in consistently fast laps en route to a wire-to-wire moto victory.

The second moto appeared to be much of the same, as Jones pulled another holeshot, but a problem with the brakes sent him off track with just two laps left. Regardless, Jones remounted and staged a great charge to the front, unfortunately running out of time and having to settle with second. However, the 1-2 moto scores were enough to take the overall victory.

“My Yoshimura motor worked great,” said Jones after the race. “I got two big holeshots and led the first moto from start to finish. In the second moto, I was pressured the whole time and wound up finishing second, but I still got the overall, so I’m really happy about that.”

Jones has a comfortable lead over his competitors now with just two races left in the series. The next round of the ITP QuadCross series takes place October 24 at Racetown 395 in Adelanto, California.

Borich Claims Victory at Unadilla AMA/GNCC

0

Chris Borich proved that he is still in top form after the 10-week break in the season as he piloted his 2010 Suzuki QuadRacer R450 to victory on Saturday at the Unadilla round of the 2010 AMA/GNCC series.

Saturday’s victory marks his eighth win of the season, and extends his championship points lead to 44.

Borich got off to a solid start aboard his QuadRacer R450, and stayed near the front of the pack for much of the race.

Borich bided his time, putting constant pressure on the leaders and waiting for the perfect opportunity to strike. That opportunity came on the final lap, when the race leader made a mistake that Borich capitalized on to take the lead. Once out in front, Borich poured on the power of his QuadRacer R450 to extend his lead and take the win.

Borich is now the owner of a 44-point advantage in the race for the 2010 championship title, a lead that is made even more significant by the fact that there are only 3 races left on the 2010 GNCC schedule. With so few races remaining, Chris is in an excellent position to take the championship title once again.

The next round of AMA/GNCC racing action will take place September 25-26 in Layfayette, Tennessee. Expect Borich to be there and ready to take the win aboard his Suzuki QuadRacer R450.
