Bosski Donates ATV Wagon trailers to Club

0

The Berkshire Trail Riders Club was honored recently as the first recipient of Bosski’s Trailers for Trails Program. In sponsorship with Fisk Distributing and Enfield Motorsports, the club was able to acquire two 1600 Utility ATV Wagon trailers even though the non-profit group had limited funds.

Jason Myers, President of the Berkshire Trail Riders shares his excitement, “We had to haul a huge amount of stone a mile or so down the trail to repair some damage. These trailers cut down on the amount of trips up and down the trail significantly since we could store so much material in the big trailer. We used to have guys just standing around waiting, now, these guys are kept busy because a lot more material comes down in one shot!”

The Berkshire Trail Riders are responsible for maintaining Tolland State Forest in Sandisfield and Otis, Massachusetts. Many other volunteer riding clubs maintain their local public trail systems. Usually trail maintenance requires several individuals hand carrying equipment and supplies long distances to get to the work area. Bosski’s ATV Wagon trailers make the job much easier and allow workers to get more done in a shorter period of time. If the trails are not taken care of, many states are threatening to close these public areas leading to less and less places to ride.

Jason Myers continues his praise, “I know that many other clubs in the area could benefit from the use of these types of trailers and you can be sure that we will spread the word.” If you are an ATV Wagon dealer who knows of a club in need, or if you are a non-profit club wanting a rugged, workhorse trailer, contact Bosski and ask about their Trailers for Trails Program. New Accessory Package for Booming Side by Side Market Features 6′ Straight-Blade Poly Plow and THE BOSS’ Innovative SmartHitch 2 Attachment System

THE BOSS Snowplow, a company known for pushing the edge of innovation on products for snowplow removal, today announced a collaboration with Polaris Industries Inc., a pioneer in the booming side by side market, on the launch of a new 6′ Straight-Blade Poly Snowplow and SmartHitch 2® attachment system for Polaris’ 2005-2008 RANGER side by side vehicles.

Available at Polaris dealerships starting in September, THE BOSS Snowplow for Polaris is designed to easily tackle projects for the home or job site giving side by side owners the flexibility to reach areas where traditional plows cannot go due to space limitations or rugged terrain.

In addition to developing its first snowplow for the side by side market, THE BOSS adapted its proven SmartHitch 2 Attachment System for the Polaris RANGER to give homeowners and professionals the time-saving benefits of a fast and efficient attachment system with the ability to maneuver with ease.

“Our new product for Polaris and the side by side market is a natural next step for THE BOSS, and the opportunity to work with the company that has set the standard for quality and performance in the side by side market is an added bonus,” said Rick Robitaille, marketing manager for THE BOSS Snowplow.

“THE BOSS has a proven track record designing high-performance snowplow equipment for downsized vehicles, so we’re thrilled to be taking this to the next level with a custom design for the RANGER. The power and versatility of the Polaris RANGER and the easy hookup of THE BOSS snowplow using SmartHitch 2 technology will make quick work of any plowing job.”

“THE BOSS plow will complement our side by side accessory offering,” said Chris Witte, product line developer for PURE Polaris. “Polaris RANGERs are known as the ‘hardest working, smoothest riding’ side by side vehicles and the addition of THE BOSS plow to our accessory line up ensures our RANGERs work even harder.”

Standard features of THE BOSS 6′ Straight-Blade Poly Plow include:

· SmartHitch® 2 Attachment System
· High Performance Hydraulic Package
· SmartTouch 2 Hand Held Control
· Poly Blade
· Sloped Profile Undercarriage

Attaching or detaching the plow can be done with little to no physical effort with THE BOSS’ SmartHitch 2 Attachment System. A simple and quick attachment means users spend more time plowing and less time getting ready to plow.

Part of THE BOSS Snowplow package, the SmartTouch 2 Handheld Control is the easiest-to-use handheld control in the snowplow industry.

The handheld control is designed for right or left hand use and requires less button pushing than competing products, features an express up-and-down capability, and also has a built-in sleep mode.

The handle of the control can be removed providing several different mounting options.

Am I Too Big For A Raptor?

Question:

i was looking into getting a Raptor 700, but I weigh around 250 and it says the max load is 220 lbs.

Why is this so low? Even smaller quads are higher than this, but if i got one would I be okay with a gusset kit?

I do MX tracks and trails and hit up to 60 foot jumps.

Thanks,

Chet

Response:

Okay, you’ve got me on this one. I’ve looked at Yamaha’s specs on their websites (and a whole lot of other OEM’s specs as well) just to see if I’m going nuts – after reading your question.

I do not believe I’ve seen a “weight limit specification for rider” attached to any current models – other than youths. I could be wrong but if I am I would like you to give me the site where the Raptor has a posted load limit of 250 pounds.

Here’s what gets me about your Q. I know lots of guys who weigh what you do who ride and race ATV’s – and never have a problem other than needing more preload, higher damping settings or heavier springs. A “gusset kit”? You mean there’s a kit you can bolt on to beef up the Raptor in spots the OE knows will crack? I doubt that.

Here’s the deal – if you had a 200 pound rider who rode harder than you – like a guy who could do 100 ft triples – wouldn’t that theoretically generate as high if not higher shock loads than your svelte 250 pound body at 60 feet on a double?

I’ll keep checking but I am a little confused!

More Power Not A Bad Thing

0

We’re hearing reaction to power increases coming to the Big Bore Sport Ute class. Seems detractors are focusing on the power of premium priced, bought-by-experienced-rider models, claiming it’s bad for the industry.

The new Thundercat, the Outlander 800 HO, the newly HP injected Sportsman 800 HO along with the Brute Force 750, are not inherently dangerous because of their powerful engines.

In every motorized form of recreation there are the top-of-the-line model segments that showcase the manufacturer’s best technology. These vehicles are always expensive and rarely purchased by anyone less than a seasoned rider.

This argument was thrown at the snowmobile industry in the early 90s – not coincidentally Arctic Cat was at the centre of the controversy then over the introduction of – you guessed it – the Thundercat snowmobile.

At that time it exceeded the market’s benchmark for displacement and HP by about 20 percent. Screams could be heard for more than a year from the bed wetters.

Turns out, after the industry was scrutinized in an effort to vilify powerful snowmobiles the naysayers were not just a little wrong, they were completely wrong.

Common denominators in snowmobile accidents never changed as a result of more powerful models. What were the common denominators? Impaired operators and reckless, risk taking riders.

Engine size was not a constant in accidents. The driver profile was the problem – and still is.

New Cat Plant Churning ‘Em Out By The Thousands

0

Apparently Arctic Cat’s brand new St.Cloud, Minnesota engine plant has the ability to churn out more than 50,000 powerplants annually!

If this is accurate, then look for the Thief River Falls based ATV and snowmobile builder to integrate more US assembled ATV engines very soon.

As it sits right now, only its 375 air-cooled and 500 liquid cooled 4-stroke singles are made by Suzuki.

AC has openly asserted it will not be using the Suzuki King Quad 700 mill much longer as a result of the launch of its own 700 EFI mill this year.
