MARIETTA, Ga. – November 8, 2018 – Yamaha Racing’s bLU cRU racers continue the YXZ1000R reign, sweeping both rounds in the Lucas Oil Regional Off-Road Series (LORORS) Arizona Production 1000 class, along with the overall point standings over the weekend, further proving the YXZ1000R is the Side-by-Side (SxS) to beat in UTV short course racing. Yamaha bLU cRU driver Paul O’Brien captured the 2018 LORORS Arizona Production 1000 class championship in his Weller Racing / Yamaha YXZ1000R at the state’s Wild Horse Pass Motorsports Park. O’Brien’s victory additionally earns him a permanent spot of recognition among Yamaha’s numerous racing legends amassed over the decades at the company’s annual Wall of Champions ceremony next month.

Controlling the field throughout the season by finishing first in all but one race, O’Brien secured the Production 1000 class victory and Yamaha’s $5,000 bLU cRU Championship Bonus in his YXZ1000R with a total of 319 points. The only person to stop O’Brien’s first place dominance was fellow bLU cRU racer Jason Weller, who won the final round in his Weller Racing YXZ1000R. Thanks to a strong run at the last two rounds, Weller jumped to third overall in the series’ Production 1000 class, nearly besting fellow YXZ1000R racer Will Munns who rounded out the podium in second place.

“O’Brien’s performance this year in his YXZ1000R was phenomenal, being the only racer to consistently finish on the podium in all six rounds of the series,” said Donnie Luce, Yamaha’s off-road racing coordinator. “Along with all bLU cRU racers, we congratulate O’Brien on a great season and additionally look forward to having him join the ranks with many other Yamaha racing legends next month as we add him to Yamaha’s prestigious Wall of Champions.”

In December, Yamaha will recognize their 2018 SxS, ATV, and Motorcycle racing champions at its annual Wall of Champions event in Marietta, Georgia. Yamaha Celebrates 2018 Championships at GNCC Ironman Finale

0

MARIETTA, Ga. – October 31, 2018 – Yamaha Racing celebrated the success of bLU cRU racers Walker Fowler and Traci Pickens as they officially claimed their respective championships and topped the podium once more this past weekend at the final 2018 Grand National Cross Country (GNCC) series round at Ironman Raceway in Crawfordsville, Indiana. And furthering the cause in support of the GNCC’s annual breast cancer awareness efforts, Yamaha donated $3,200 to the local non-profit care and research clinic of Montgomery County.

For the fourth year in a row, Yamaha factory-supported racer, Walker Fowler, claimed the XC1 Pro ATV championship on his WFR / GBC / Fly Yamaha YFZ450R with 311 total points, capping off the season with his seventh first-place finish at Ironman. Yamaha bLU cRU racer, Traci Pickens, also won at Ironman, adding to her unprecedented 11th GNCC championship in the WXC ATV class on her YFZ450R. Including nine first-place finishes, Pickens earned a total 270 points with a nearly flawless season, never placing less than second.

“Once again, Yamaha came into Ironman strong this year, offering autograph signings, Halloween candy, Yamaha Racing beanies, Power Assist Bicycle demo rides, and more to celebrate our series champions with the thousands of racers and fans at Crawfordsville,” said Donnie Luce, Yamaha’s off-road racing coordinator. “It’s additionally great to see Yamaha raise funds for GNCC’s breast cancer awareness effort – especially when the proceeds go toward the local community.”

In support of GNCC’s annual breast cancer fundraising and awareness efforts, Yamaha committed $50 for every Yamaha win at Ironman, along with $50 for each Yamaha GNCC series championship. With 25 Yamaha racers claiming championships and 39 Yamaha race-day wins over the weekend, including CJ Greaves topping the UXC2 class in his Mutant Super Soda / Maxxis / Yamalube / GYTR / Greaves Motorsports YXZ1000R, a total of $3,200 was donated by Yamaha to support local breast cancer care and research for the Montgomery County Free Clinic (MCFC), a non-profit organization dedicated to providing free mammogram examinations across the Crawfordsville and Montgomery county region.
