FIRST LOOK: 2011 Polaris Sportsman 400

By now you’ve likely seen the 2011 Polaris lineup slathered all across the Internet. If you haven’t, head over to Polaris’ site and check out the new metal. Polaris has introduced so much new stuff for 2011 you definitely wonÂ’t be bored checking it all out.

Probably the biggest news on the ATV side is the new update to the Sportsman 400. If you watch Dirt Trax this season, you’ll see us talk a lot about the 2010 Sportsman 400 and how its undersized dimensions are just too small for the average male rider. Add some more cheeseburgers to that equation and its just downright uncomfortable. Well, not any more.

Polaris has fitted the more than capable 455cc HO carbureted mill into the same full size Sportsman chassis as the 500 HO. This revamped edition is jammed all the features found on the other full-size Sportsman ATVs including low range…FINALLY.

In this chassis, the 455cc motor, really shines and larger lads can finally ride this mill hard without feeling like weÂ’re saddled to a youth-sized ATV.

Polaris has intentionally gone after this highly competitive segment with a more than solid offering. The Sportsman is an office favorite around here and weÂ’re happy to see this mill available in a beefier body so that test pilots of all sizes can now enjoy it to its fullest.

Be sure to check out the 2011 Polaris intro coming up on Dirt Trax Television and stay tuned for more impressions of the all-grown-up Sportsman 400 HO.
