Press Release –

Sweeping the top four overall, Maxxis provided the stomp at the GNCC’s tenth race of the season, the Yadkin Valley Stomp. Perennial champ Bill Ballance took the victory in 2:03:28, after a close, action-packed race.

Duane Johnson turned in another amazing rookie-year performance with a second place finish, and Bryan Baker took the third spot on the podium.

Chris Borich, who held the lead throughout much of the race, rounded out the top four. The event was held September 9 in Yadkinville, North Carolina.

Of his breakout from a fiercely competitive pack near the end of the race, Ballance told gnccracing.com “We got into a bottleneck, and William [Yokley] was leading, and I think he jumped in there before he knew what was going on, basically.

He got into the trail right behind a guy and he was too close to back up. So we pushed around the guys who got hung up. Then Michael [Houston’s] clutch went out, and we went around him and cruised on in.” Ballance holds a 27-point lead in the race for the 2006 championship.

The afternoon race wasn’t the only event that Maxxis dominated: Traci Cecco of team Yamaha won yet another morning overall, clinching the women’s GNCC title for the season. The 2006 championship will be her fifth, according to gnccracing.com.

Maxxis, the brand of champions, congratulates Bill Ballance and Traci Cecco on their victories, and Duane Johnson, Bryan Baker, Chris Borich and all Maxxis riders on their fine performances.
