What’s With The HO?

Question:

Dear Motorhead,

Could you please tell me the difference between a 500 Polaris and 500 HO?

Also the setup already has a compound helix in it. Will there be much difference adding an Erlandson clutch kit?

Kyle

Response:

The old original 4 valve 500 Sportsman was the base “non-HO” engine. Now they have a carbed and an EFI version I believe they are referring to the EFI as the HO – right?

I believe both engines produce very similar power – both are much stronger than the old 500.

An Erlandson clutch kit will perk up your ride. It’s more than just the compound angle on the helix – it’s about springs and weights as well.
