Official KTM UAE rider Sebastian Husseini earned an impressive victory on his KTM 525 XC Sport ATV in the last round of the Baja Desert Championship series.



The Dubai Desert Baja race took place on Friday, April 4. Competitors raced 12 laps through the gruelling terrain on the tough 8 mile loop.

Husseini dominated the event crossing the finish line in first place with a remarkable five minute lead over his nearest competitor.

By winning the last round of the Baja Desert championship series, Husseini managed to wrap up the overall title.

This championship marked the first for Husseini and his KTM 525 XC Sport ATV.

Husseini was running a stock KTM ATV with Powerparts, available at your local KTM dealer.

”I am delighted to have won the title,” said Husseini. “The new KTM 525 XC Sport ATV is an incredible bike. My team was great and due to their hard work we managed to come out on top.”

In a year of milestones for Suzuki, the manufacturer’s Georgia-based ATV manufacturing facility celebrated the production of its 250,000th ATV on March 31, 2008.

Suzuki will also celebrate 2008 as the 25th anniversary of it production of the industry’s first 4-wheeled ATV – the 1983 Suzuki LT-125 – with anniversary events scheduled throughout the summer.

In May 2002, Suzuki Manufacturing of America Corp. (SMAC) opened in Rome, Ga., as Suzuki’s only U.S.-based manufacturing facility and began producing the Eiger series of ATVs. Today, 300 SMAC employees are building ATV frames, molding plastic and assembling KingQuad 400s, 450s and 750s at a rate of more than 200 units in an eight-hour shift. Last year almost 60,000 quads came off the line.

A commemorative ceremony was held at the factory on Monday, March 31, 2008 in front of an assembled group of factory employees, local dignitaries and media, invited guests and the Suzuki factory ATV race team – Team Rockstar / MSR / Suzuki / Yoshimura / Pro Taper.

SMAC’s ATV Sales Manager Alan Horne began the ceremony by reflecting on the relationship of Suzuki and its host community of Rome: “This not only commemorates the success of Suzuki’s ATV production during the last six years, but also commemorates the success of the cooperation with the community.”

In attendance was the Mayor of Rome, Wright Bagby, who graciously thanked Suzuki for helping the community expand its manufacturing base. “For the last 10 years, we have been fighting to save manufacturing jobs,” Bagby said in front of a large commemorative banner. “With the help of people like the employees of Suzuki who were on the cutting edge of helping us turn around our manufacturing situation in the South and in Rome, we were able to save jobs and continue having a higher percentage of manufacturing jobs in the community than most places in the South or probably in the country.”

Kory Ellis, Team Rockstar / MSR / Suzuki / Yoshimura / Pro Taper’s Manager, introduced Team Suzuki’s ATV race team and thanked the employees of the factory for producing such great products and for all their support.

AMA ATV Motocross Series current points leader Dustin Wimmer rode the historic ATV off the production line to a cheering crowd. The red KingQuad 750 AXi 4×4 had been signed by all factory personnel. The team joined the mayor and other local government attendees in adding their signatures.

Mel Harris, Vice President of American Suzuki’s Motorcycle/ATV division, was unable to attend but was proud of the achievement: “Congratulations to the city of Rome, Ga., and our family of employees at the Suzuki Manufacturing of America Corp. who believed in this project and made it all happen. A quarter of a million ATVs in six short years is not only a huge accomplishment, but a clear example of Suzuki’s commitment to the ATV market. I thank everyone for their part in our continued success.”

Factory FRE/KTM rider Adam McGill earned his second win in a row at the third round of the ATV GNCC Series.

After a dominating win at the Georgia round McGill repeated the result this weekend to prove it wasn’t a fluke and he is indeed a title contender for this season’s championship.

Just like he did at round 2, McGill pulled an amazing holeshot and got out front fast. By the end of the first lap he had already put 20 seconds on the second place rider, Bill Balance. McGill’s teammate, Taylor Kiser started a bit farther back around 10th place and had moved into 7th by the end of lap one.

After the first lap Kiser had caught up with Brandon Sommers and Chris Borich and the three riders battled throughout the remainder of the two hour race.

“I caught up to the front pack rather quickly but every time I tried to pass I would get stuck behind lappers in a bottleneck and lose time. It was a one-lined course and since I didn’t have the start I needed I struggled to break through,” commented Kiser.

Meanwhile, McGill was still pulling out front stretching his lead to over a minute. McGill would go on to win after leading the race start to finish in a near flawless ride out front.

Kiser finished 7th for the day earning enough points to keep him in the title chase. After three rounds McGill and Kiser now sit one and two in the series points.

“I am so happy to be on top of the podium for the second week straight,” replied McGill after the race. “This is where I’ve known I could be for a long time, but I couldn’t have made it happen if it wasn’t for the help of my team and a great bike. My KTM is running perfect and almost makes my job seem easy.”

Polaris Industries today announced Factory Racer and Professional ATV Racing Icon, Doug Eichner has extended his racing commitment with the company.

The contract has Eichner racing the Polaris Outlaw in WORCS and other selected races through the 2009 race season.

Eric Nault, Polaris ATV race manager, expressed how pleased Polaris is to be continuing their relationship with Eichner.

“Doug brought us our first professional level win last year, and delivered a total of eight professional victories during the 2007 season. He continues to be at the front of the pack just about every weekend on Polaris Outlaws.”

Eichner, who finished second overall in the 2007 WORCS series, has been highly successful in demonstrating the racing ability of the Outlaw models.

He started the 2007 season off successfully with the Outlaw 525 IRS and continued his winning ways aboard the Outlaw 525 S which was introduced mid-season.

Eichner will soon campaign the Outlaw 450 MXR due to a change in racing requirements at the WORCS series, and will race the Outlaw 525 S at select ITP Quadcross events.

Eichner is covering many areas of competition aboard Polaris models including being the current points leader in the SxS class for the WORCS series, where he has successfully driven his Polaris RANGER RZR with winning results.
