Yamaha Outdoor Access Initiative Grants More Than $130,000 in 2nd Quarter

0

KENNESAW, Ga. – September 13, 2018 – Yamaha Motor Corp., USA, the powersports leader in supporting outdoor recreation, today announces the Yamaha Outdoor Access Initiative (OAI) awarded more than $130,000 in funds and equipment to 11 grant applicants in the second quarter of 2018.

In the past decade, the Yamaha Outdoor Access Initiative granted more than $3.5 million supporting the program’s mission of guaranteeing responsible access to land for outdoor recreation, staking a clear claim in the powersports industry as the unprecedented leader in supporting those who work and play outdoors.

Projects funded this past quarter support opportunities for a variety of off-highway vehicle (OHV) enthusiasts, including those using ATVs, Side-by-Side (SxS) vehicles, motorcycles and snowmobiles for outdoor recreation enjoyment.

“Now 10 years strong, the Outdoor Access Initiative continues to be a resource for all outdoor enthusiasts in the fight to preserve access,” said Steve Nessl, Yamaha ATV / SxS group marketing manager. “Whatever you ride, however you hunt, camp or enjoy the outdoors, if there’s no access, there’s no recreation. Which is why inclusive projects – those serving the needs of many different outdoor and motorized recreationists – get our attention.”

The recent applications were particularly diverse and included trail maintenance projects, statewide OHV mapping, education and land stewardship initiatives, and research supporting responsible motorized recreation in wildlife habitat.

As the powersports industry’s leading land access advocate protecting the interests of those who work and play outdoors, OAI supports off-highway vehicle riders, as well as those who rely on land access to camp, hunt, fish, farm, and more. The latest Yamaha OAI grant recipients are:

• Balsam Trail Blazers – Itasca County, MN
• Great Basin Institute – Reno, NV
• Great Lot Sportsman’s Club Corp. – Oneida County, NY
• Indian Creek Valley ATV Club, Fayette County, PA

• National FF A
• North Country ATV – North Stratford, NH
• Stay the Trail Education and Stewardship Alliance – Colorado
• Tri-County ATV Recreation & Rescue Association – Heilwood, PA
• Jack H. Berryman Institute, Utah State University
• Vermont Association of Snow Travelers
• Westcore, Inc. – Montrose, CO

Celebrating its 10th anniversary in 2018, the Yamaha Outdoor Access Initiative is accepting qualified applications for consideration of support and funding. About the Yamaha Outdoor Access Initiative
For more than a decade, the Yamaha Outdoor Access Initiative has led the powersports industry in guaranteeing responsible access to our nation’s land for outdoor enthusiasts. Through this program, Yamaha has directly and indirectly supported thousands of miles of motorized recreation trails, maintained and rehabilitated riding and hunting areas, improved staging areas, supplied agricultural organizations with essential OHV safety education, built bridges over fish-bearing streams and partnered with local outdoor enthusiast communities across the country to improve access to public lands. Each quarter, Yamaha accepts applications from nonprofit or tax-exempt organizations including OHV riding clubs and associations, national, state and local public land use agencies, outdoor enthusiast associations and land conservation groups with an interest in protecting, improving, expanding and/or maintaining access for safe, responsible and sustainable public use. A committee then reviews each application and awards grants to deserving projects. Examples of appropriate projects for grants include, but are not limited to:

• Trail development, restoration and maintenance
• Trail signage and map production
• Staging area construction, renovation and maintenance
• Land stewardship, safety and education

Updated guidelines, an application form and information on the Outdoor Access Initiative are available at www.YamahaOAI.com. For specific questions about the Outdoor Access Initiative, call Yamaha’s dedicated hotline at 1-877-OHV-TRAIL (877-648-8724), email OHVAccess@Yamaha-Motor.com or write to:

POLARIS® RZR UNVEILS THE NASTIEST FOUR-SEATER EVER, MEET THE RZR® XP 4 TURBO S

0

MINNEAPOLIS (September 13, 2018) – Today, Polaris® unveils a significant upgrade to its nastiest and most aggressive RZR® XP Turbo S with the introduction of the four-seat model. While the initial RZR XP Turbo S set new standards in nearly every measurable category, the all-new machine takes it one step further, becoming the first-ever four-seat off-road monster to boast a 72-inch stance, 32-inch standard tires, exclusive DYNAMIX™ Active Suspension and 16-inch ground clearance to devour virtually everything in its path.

“The launch of the Turbo S platform was met with overwhelming excitement from our consumers, we knew the next step was to make it available in a four-seat model,” Chris Musso, president of Off-Road Vehicles, Polaris. “As a result, we effectively raised the bar again, setting the standard in 72-inch side-by-side performance.”

The Industry’s Toughest Machine

Polaris pushed the limits of engineering when designing the RZR XP 4 Turbo S. From a reinforced chassis to bigger, stronger axles, Polaris incorporated significant performance upgrades and strengthened nearly every component of the machine. The all-new isolated front drive features three times higher impact strength, while the ROPS, control and trailing arms, and radius rods help handle the extreme force produced by this beast of a machine.

These efforts helped make it possible to engineer the industry’s first-ever side-by-side vehicle to come stock with 32-inch tires. Delivering an industry-best 16 inches of ground clearance, the massive 32-inch tires are also 249 percent more resistant to punctures than the competition. The combination of a flickable wheelbase and massive tires produces a machine that is extremely agile, yet capable of smashing though the toughest terrain with the ease of a trophy-truck.

The Industry’s Most Capable Suspension
The new machine’s toughness is complemented by its industry-best suspension. An intimidating 72-inch broad-shouldered stance opened new possibilities for smart and usable travel upgrades. The intelligent, industry-leading DYNAMIX Active Suspension system optimizes every inch of the vehicle’s industry-leading 25-inches of Useable Travel before bottoming out on the skid plate. Needless to say, drivers will enjoy putting all 168 horses to use, ripping through terrain that would tear up any other machine.

Performance Upgrades
The RZR XP 4 Turbo S was designed with extreme performance capabilities in mind. With 25 percent more assist in power steering and better steering feel at high speeds, the RZR XP 4 Turbo S keeps the driver focused on effortlessly maneuvering through the terrain, not on forcing the wheel. Recalibrated aggressive throttle mapping gives the driver better and more immediate throttle control and the redesigned clutch box allows for better air flow and decreased belt temperatures.

The Industry’s Most Evolved Cockpit
The machine also features the industry’s most-evolved cockpit and an improved driving position, enabling drivers to comfortably command it through any obstacle desired. The cockpit boasts a four-point harness, premium flat-bottom SPARCO® steering wheel, and a new digital instrument display cluster with seven-inch RIDE COMMAND™ glove-touch display on the center dash. Additionally, the machine is cut with a new predatory look: low profile stronger ROPS, aluminum roof and premium painted panels featuring wicked LED lighting packages that comes standard.

Off-road addicts will welcome the challenge to drive harder, faster and farther than ever before, now with three passengers. Available in Indy Red and Polaris Blue, this 168-horsepower beast of a machine will be available in dealerships as early as mid-September, and despite all of the incredible features, checks in at a base price of $30,499 US and $36,999 CA.
